• Re: WIVU Constituency Trees not visible

I'm pretty sure the reason you're only seeing this if you've scanned local copies is that we are purposely not shipping this for Logos 4/5 yet. It's not supported yet. Just today I heard back from one of the database gurus behind the WIVU syntax materials, and I'm told new data will be coming early next year, and they gave me a sample to play with.

  • Re: Hebrew Pronunciation Update

Last month I received a large sample from the voice talent of approximately 25% of the total forms to be recorded, which gave a sizable sample to development to make sure the implementation was done on their end. I'm not ready to hazard a release date; given the rate of recording, I think we're still several months away. I've been told there are two

  • Re: Error in the resource text for Daniel 7:8 of the BHS with Westminster morphology

Hi, Timothy. That version of the Westminster database is at least 9 years old (I can't tell exactly which edition you pasted from). We did just release the latest version, 4.18, which if I'm looking at the correct account, should already be unlocked for you. Because the Westminster text really isn't the BHS (and hasn't been since version 2), it's under
I don't have Biblia Hebraica Westmonasteriensis in my library, but I do have Biblia Hebraica Suttgartensia: With Westminster Hebrew Morphology (LLS:1.0.201). What is the difference between the BHS with Westminster morphology and BHW 4.2?
That'a the first version we ever released. I can't recall for certain how old it is, but

  • Re: Visual Filters - Morphology - Common Nouns with Def. Article

That morph code isn't valid. It had one too many ??s in order to specify the locative he, which is different that the article. You can hover on the term in the search ui to learn more.

  • Re: Biblia Hebraica Westmonasteriensis

I'm too far away from my PC to give a detailed answer on this specific tag. I do know that they've added many more unexpected form tags to their data that will show up in the next update. This part of the tagging is still relatively new.

  • Re: biblia hebraica quesion

The Westminster version tags a lot of morphological features not found in SESB, and has notes about where it reads the manuscript L differently than BHS and the BHQ fascicles, and it's newer data that has benefitted from a lot of review. The SESB version is still great for the apparatus, and I look forward to getting updated data for that someday -

  • Re: Biblia Hebraica Westmonasteriensis

There's a long series of release notes for each version going back to version 3.5, but all their examples deal with the raw data which looks very different from the finished product, and it was really written for people implementing the data. when preparing the latest updates to our Glossary of Morpho-Syntactic Database Terminology, I made sure that

  • Re: Biblia Hebraica Westmonasteriensis

Thanks for providing the examples, David! a couple pieces of additional information: the HALOT integration happens at a few different levels. The first David mentions is in KeyLinking to the lexicon - getting to the right spot when you look up a word's definition. In our software this is handled by some hand-crafted look-up tables and is not strictly

  • Re: Bug?:Biblia Hebraica Westminster 4.2 vs. 4.18

There's a difference between the bracket note, which designates something unexpected, and the addition of tags in the morph code specifying which element is unexpected, the gender, the state, etc., which in the raw data was expressed with a ! after the relevant field. Dave's search hits were just for suffix gender attached to Hebrew participles. There

With it you can safely hide the 4.0 and 4.2 versions
But what about BHS:SESB 2.0 and BHS:Westminster 3.5 Morph?
yes, I would hide the 3.5 as well. there's no good reason to keep the out of date Westminster databases around once you have the latest version. SESB 2.0 is a different

I'll have to get back to you on the search question as I'm on the road and only have an iPad with me. did you check the unexpected gender tags that are part of the pronominal suffixes? I know there are several of those attached to prepositions (with more to be added in the next release). There might be a few on non-suffixes in Aramaic, too, or it could

  • Re: Bug?:Biblia Hebraica Westminster 4.2 vs. 4.18

The old 4.2 and the new 4.18 do not share the same lemma list. There have been a lot of changes in the intervening decade, both in the WHM data and in how Logos handles homographs, etc. So when you are trying to search 'all Hebrew bibles' with the Westminster morphology, you're getting a mix of lemma options from different databases. One of the many

  • Re: Learning Ancient Greek Vs Koine Greek ?

Which dialect to start with depends on your goals. If you want to be able to read broadly, starting with either Attic or Homeric is probably best. For Attic Greek, there's a book called Vox Graeca by W. Sidney Allen that inspired a shift to something sometimes called 'restored' classical pronunciation that I believe has gotten a lot of traction in universities

  • Re: Juoun & Muraoka

The linking is by data type, not page number, and in general the new version uses the same section numbering as the original, so most links will resolve to either edition. The way the footnotes were handled did change (from notes at the end of each section to notes at the bottom of each page, if I remember correctly), and thus many of the notes were
