• Re: Links to TLOT frequently end up with the wrong lemma
I have a similar problem with BDB. When I click the link to it in the information window it frequently takes me a few words above or below the one I want. It then needs a few page ups or page downs to get to the right place.
I'd like to get some steps to reproduce what you're seeing. Most helpful are the exact

  • Re: Links to TLOT frequently end up with the wrong lemma

We have the technology to handle this - we call them KeyLink tables and they route one from a particular instance in the text to an entry in a lexicon without regard for difference in word spelling, homograph numbers or analysis (i.e. a lexicon could disagree with the database even on lemma and part of speech and we can map to the best article in the

  • Re: Ussher's chronology (Not in English - Beware!)

The archive.org copy doesn't have any information on who did the translation or when [at least, not that I could find]. It doesn't read like a particularly old translation, and the editor's preface mentions an article from 1922. It's possible that this isn't really public domain, but that someone is asserting it is public domain because the original

  • Re: Bug: Apocalypse of Baruch (Syriac)

I've added this info to the dev ticket, but as a work-around, the link seems to be missing underscores. The following link does parse: logosres:lpesh;ref=BiblePESH.Apocalypse_of_Baruch

  • Re: Export Hebrew with accents highlighted?

The best Unicode fonts use combined glyphs for a consonant and its combining marks to handle mark positioning and there isn't any ability to change formatting, like color, for just part of the glyph, so doing something like this would break the glyph look up and marks wouldn't position well. Then in some rendering engines there'd be extra dotted circles

  • Re: BUG - Hebrew Text in Search Results

Often the segment break between a word and a suffixed preposition falls between a consonant and a vowel, so when highlighting just one segment the vowels get orphaned - there's not code in the text rendering engine for doing something smarter when there is a formatting change between a letter and its combining marks. We're aware of the issue.

  • Re: Westminster Morphology 4.18

Version numbers don't always work like decimals. Think 18 is higher than 2. i suppose I'd rename the old one to BHW 4.2. Or BHW/WHM 4.2.

  • Re: Westminster Morphology 4.18

It will be a separate resource with a different name: BHW 4.18. The Westminster text realily isn't the BHS, so it should not have been named that (there may have been some point in the history of the Westminster database when it matched some particular printing of the BHS, but if so it was a very long time ago). Both BHS and BHW follow the same manuscript

  • Re: how to search hebrew accent on Logos

Interesting. Using character class brackets also works: / *word/, but this is a bug. Now you know why it's unsupported! :) EDIT: Not sure how to stop the emoticon, but that was supposed to be [ s ] (no spaces).
  • Re: how to search hebrew accent on Logos

I'm told they were in Logos 4... They're an 'unsupported feature', so there's not much in the way of documentation. I haven't given it much of a stress test (I only recently learned of them myself - I know I tried them before, but I probably assumed they just weren't in there because the normalization changed so my old searches just seemed to not work
  • Re: how to search hebrew accent on Logos

Accent sensitive searching is slated for version 5.2. I've gotten to play around with a working demo of it. There is one way to do it now: our regular expression (a standard pattern matching syntax) searches are sensitive to all the marks. E.g.: /.*\u05A6.*/ Where the // tell the search engine you want to use regular expression pattern matching, .*
  • Re: Help needed understanding search results in BHS text

It's hard for me to test this one, because that is a very ancient version of the Westminster morphology database, and I don't have that on my PC anymore. The resource you're using was the 2.0 version of the Westminster database and the data must be at least 17 years old, since it was included in our 1996 base packages. (Don't be fooled by the 'resource

  • Re: BHS Lemma tagging question (problem) in Psalm 78:56 and elsewhere

Which version of the Hebrew Bible are you looking at? I'm guessing it's one of the older Westminster versions, but I didn't check all the Hebrew Bibles. We do have newer Westminster data that generally lines up more closely with HALOT's lemmatization, but I'm waiting for word from publisher relations that we're good to go for releasing it (some contract

Caveat: This is not the official Logos answer - I haven't been in our text development department for years. I'm just feeling philosophical this morning. I picked a book off my shelf almost at random: The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah by Alfred Edersheim. All it says on the copyright page is: Copyright 1993, Hendrickson. The dated prefaces could

  • Re: Hebrew Fonts and your resources

Might try rebooting your computer... Sometimes if installed and embedded fonts get out of sync, things can display goofy until you reboot. If that doesn't work, try installing the latest version of SBL Hebrew from the SBL website and then reboot again.

  • Re: Still no Search with Hebrew Vowel Pointing??

There has been a lot of movement on this recently. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but I was told this feature was up and running in a 5.2 demo (there will be a 5.1a release that goes out between now and then).
Please note: ANDEQUALS and NOTEQUALS do not work in morphological searches if you use the @sign.
There is a work-around: put the terms in parens, like so: (@vaai3s) ANDEQUALS (*σε) I'm not sure why the parens matter - seems like a design woops, but this should work for now.
So you're saying only the SESB version has Qere/Kethiv and apparatus, and there is a newest version BHSSESB, not BHSSESB2 ...
Yes. There are other Hebrew Bibles you didn't ask about that have K/Q analysis (like our LHB and the 4.2 version of the Westminster database - I think the Westminster 3.5 and the 4.0 had it as well

  • Re: Difference between BHS WIVU and BHS SESB?

I should perhaps add that there are two BHS SESB 2 resources (there was some reason why GBS didn't want to increment the version number when we got the last data they sent), and the one that is actually the latest release is the one with the internal file name of BHSSESB, not BHSSESB2 (since the critical apparatus could only link to one version, the
