• Re: Lexham bible guide: Luke

I think these guides are excellent and it would be great to have every book of the Bible covered one day...

  • Re: Logos Now Subscription

I highly suspect that the launch of Logos 8 is going to be highly intertwined in a big way with Faithlife Connect... what that will look like, I suspect that rather than buying a feature set, you will be purchasing a discounted subscription. For those who have taken the plunge already, you will get a coupon. I could be wrong... see you in October/November

  • Re: Faithlife Connect - Defining the issues & looking for a path forward

Another key issue is that I believe Bob or someone on these forums said the Logos Now user base was a bit more than 1% or so. So while it could be possibly assumed that in this group were some hard core fans who might come onto the forum and fuss about the changes, Logos will be looking at what the rest of the user base does or says, particularly if

  • Re: What Mac do I need to run Logos fast?

I have a late 2016 2.6 ghz i7 MacBook Pro with 16GB of RAM and an SSD. Logos is pretty good, but it will never be as fast as Accordance on the same machine.

  • Re: What Mac do I need to run Logos fast?
My observation is that each new version of Logos for the Mac runs better than the previous one. I don't believe it's fair to compare Logos' performance on a Mac to that of Accordance. Just my opinion
Logos for Mac definitely has improved. Personally version 4 didn't ever feel like a full release version. Version 5 and beyond

  • Re: Faithlife! Is Logos Now Really going to be discontinued?
In some ways this shouldn't have been a complete surprise. Logos Now has been languishing since L7 rolled out, and they do seem to have been pushing feature sets harder than one would think advisable under a viable subscription model. Most likely Now simply wasn't generating enough revenue; I can't think of any other justifiable reason

  • Re: Faithlife Connect - I'm out!

Well... I'll study it more this weekend, but it seems my cost to maintain my current Logos Now resources is more than double under Faithlife Connect Essentials. Yikes! The challenge is that this is a shift from a early software release program to pushing users into the whole Faithlife ecosystem. This extra stuff is not bad, but I just don't have time

Punish? I don’t know, but certainly maybe not identified with in terms of how they might find the change hard to swallow. Change comes hard, but failthlife starter is no replacement for logos now.

  • Re: Logos Now and Faithlife Connect: The Why
The problem is category (c). These are the folks who have large libraries and will not bring in a lot of money to FL in the near future as they are near saturated in their book buying. They just want to be able to keep up with the SW developments. That's what LN looked like at $100/yr.
Yup! Well said. I wouldn't mind adding

  • Re: Introducing Faithlife Connect

There are several issues going on here... 1. Logos has to embrace the subscription model. To Bob's defence, he has been talking about it for many years and we see this happening in the world around us in many instances. The transition, particularly for users that have invested 6 figure sums and are now subscribing to content they have already paid for
I know several people who have chosen to spend their $X000 with Accompetitor because of the better offline lookups on mobile apps. But wait, they miss out on the empty tomb interactive!?! To think that would influence their decision is laughable. But Faithlife spent development dollars on it because it increases 'value perceptio

As is my routine, I have had both running this morning during my devotional and study time. Very simply some of my perceived strengths as I switch back and forth... Logos - The guides, facebook and explorer are awesome for pulling nuggets out of my library and highlighting them to me. Tagging with speakers and the discourse stuff is very useful. Lectionaries
Along with the notes
Absolutely. I have always felt the NET bible with these notes is an exegetical gem that is often overlooked. This is why creating an interlinear out of it would make so much sense.

  • Re: Is Logos 8 an improvement?
Do you think Logos 8 is an improvement? How?
Yes. Speed and stability. For some there were some elements left from some of the tools in shifting from version 7 to 8, losing therefore some feature parity. Personally, for what I use Logos for I was pleased and did not look back.
I'm not suggesting there isn't interest beyond this group (I know there is; our Pre-Pub numbers demonstrate that). But I was a little surprised to learn that there's a relatively small group of folks who are really engaged in the journals conversation. I don't think we should conclude too much from this, but I thought
the right set of journals
I have a bias, but the Galaxie theological library was not a bad little library considering. The current master collection has a lot of stuff that is so broad I don't know if I could ever use it. That being said, I have been impressed how Logos has grown over the years to leverage

  • Re: Logos 8 removed the button to change preferred Bibles

I could be wrong, but similar to removing the 'i' button from resource panels, I suspect the intention is to try to simplify the interface. I get that. Therein lies a challenge. Some aspects of a UI probably don't statistically get used a lot, but to those that use them, it is essential in their workflows.
