• Re: Who ARE These People?? Some Older Threads on Logosians

Wow! 😮 Wow!🙂 Thanks for resurrecting these threads. It brought back tons of memories. People I had forgotten. It is funny you should do this because at the launch of L9 I was reminiscing of the days before the web forum when we meet on usenet newsgroups. A bit geeky, but was so very efficient. Anyhow, Bible software development has been a bunch of

Being that Apple Silicon has been anticipated for a long time, I am surprised there has nothing been said from FL about this yet, particularly as it relates to L9.
Is all the text in the pdf imports searchable or are many imported as pictures?
If the PDF has text in it, it is searchable, but as far as I am aware it does not do OCR. An example of where this works great is the PDF version of Themelios Journal.

  • A Promotion to Continue to Develop the Commentary Section of the Passage Guide

Over the years I have handed the issue of having a growing collection of commentaries with collections. I am thrilled to see particularly the 'type' and 'era' categories. If you would like to see more of this, there is a feedback suggestion to bring in 'theology system' which can be voted on: https://feedback.faithlife.com/boards/logos-data-sets/posts

  • Re: Calling All Academics!!!!!

If we are going to go this route, we really need the ability to import PDFs, html, rich text and markdown files. I know this has been discussed extensively before, but the reality is that papers in Logos will rarely be composed of research exclusively from the Logos ecosystem. Being able to open a website from within Logos would be very useful as well

  • Re: Curious about L9 choices made...

I have no clue the history, except I started with Series X Scholar Gold I think it was. I have upgraded with every version since and even owned Logos 1.x Mac which was sort of like version three. For me thIs round is Academic Premium and Standard Gold. The trouble is since my library has grown so much over the years, I really don’t think I have
Lexham Research Lexicons
I just started to explore these. These are AWESOME adds as well. I was glad to spot them and put them in my prioritisation as they will add quite nicely to my workflows.

  • Re: So, who else has found L9 to be a bit...underwhelming?

A few my perspectives... Bible software has really matured over the last 20 years. We can do many of the things we dreamed about with the first computer assisted Bible study programs and much more. So innovation will come at a higher level of imagination, resources and investment. Keep in mind, software facilitates study and to a certain degree, design

Overall, a good update. Didn't appear to break anything major... my favourites are: Factbook - particularly as they build out and develop it in the weeks to come. The entries for the Books of the Bible are huge time savers. Greek Grammar Ontology: Another big time saver. The Passage Guide Update to the Commentary section: We have needed this since version
Logos Standard Silver.. for Carta Collection and Academic Premium. That's what I think are a great combo. I have FL connect so I get full feature package with that
Yep! That was my analysis too. If you want counseling resources go for Logos Standard Gold, otherwise Silver is a great buy along with Academic Premium

  • Logos 9 Initial Impressions

I've been around Logos since series X and my initial impression of this new version is that it is a solid evolution of the software. The big winners in order of importance for me are: - The New Factbook: If you have a lot of resources, we needed additional ways to mine our book data and I think this is a real value add along with the dataset. I am a

I thought with Connect I just got incremental, not major upgrades. I did look at Sermon Manager and I think it looks a bit different, but I don't use it. A few changes I spotted

  • Logos 9 is Here

I was doing my devotions and studies this morning and Logos suddenly downloaded an update... Logos 9 is here and I guess I didn't realise I had a choice! A slightly modified icon, some other tweaks I see, but nothing majorly impactful for my workflows. The biggest thing I was happy to see is the commentary window have some segmentation, particularly

It will be interesting to see what Logos 9 brings to the table. More so than usual. My perspective of using Bible software for the last 25 or so years is that as the market has matured, we have had full tables of opportunities of study placed before us and developments are not as dramatic as they used to be. So I am curious if I will be 'wowed' by this
