What track is your son on? Pastoral? Academic?
Hi Bill, Many thanks for your response. I'd have to say at this stage primary Academic (athough there is naturally some pastoral). He's in his first year of a three year theology degree and although he has been studying Greek he wants to take it as a major option next year. Hence
What does "outstripped" mean in this case?
Hi, thanks everyone for your quick replies. Sorry Garrett, I just meant 'outstripped' in the sense of 'out performed', 'easier to use' , greater capacity to get to the meaning of the text'. My son is at theological college and tells me that his professors pretty much echo BillS

  • Logos v Accordance 9: Greek Language Tools - an honest appraisal!

Hi, I've recently had a discussion that suggests that Accordance is the better package for Greek language studies. I'm more than content with my Logos Leaders Package, but I would appreciate an honest assessment from those of you with higher Logos packages (and a higher Greek understanding) as to whether you think it's true that Logos is outstripped

Tried Shift + F5 rather than Ctrl + F5 which seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for your time.

  • Logos Homepage problems

Despite having all the items checked under 'customize' for the Logos Homepage, I'm consistently getting what I would call 'online content' only ; i,e Logos Community Pricing, Blog, My Logos Messages etc, but not excerpts or illustrations as I used to. I know I can refresh the page by pressing F5 and if I press Ctrol + F5 I can get all the content for

Andy & Rosie. Thank you for your comments and naturally I agree wholeheartedly with both of you. By citing how this book had helped me as an individual, I never had any thought of promoting any one particular theological stance or position - and am quite baffled as to how this thread has developed the way it has. I simply hoped to encourage Logos to

  • Re: Slaves, Women and Homosexuals (Suggestion)

Hi, Just for the record, I would like to say that I found this book very helpful in doing what it was supposed to do, i.e. give the reader some ideas about how to interpret scripture in the light of difficult issues. In the process I found that my understanding of those passages which suggested women shouldn't be in ministry or have authority over men

Slaves, Women & Homosexuals: Exploring the Hermenutics of Cultural Analysis by William J. Webb. IVP 2001 I'd like to see this book made available through Logos. It's not the snappiest of titles, but although it's more to do with developing a process of hermenutics against all sorts of tricky issues, I've found it incredibly useful when it comes to taking

As I've said on a previous thread, these works are excellent! I once heard it said that 'if you want to be able to explain Gospel truths simply, you need to be able to understand them profoundly, but of course once having understood them profoundly you need to be able to explain them simply - and N T Wright is the master of this!!! His more popular

  • Re: Logos March Madness - Which are the "Wright" resources?
Well, I couldn't pass many of these... One has to know that Wright writes in two "lines", one being very theological and scholarly (and even those scholars who come to different conclusions, e.g. on the NPP, need to interact with Wright, but people may choose to do so with their seminary's library paper copy instead of buying

Why is it that when you see the free book of the month looking like this: COOL! It actually arrives on your system like this: NOT COOL! I know it shouldn't - but this sort of thing really bugs me!

Once again - thanks to everyone for their contributions. I also discovered a very good 'starter' on this subject in 'Exploring the New Testament, Volume 2: The Letters and Revelation, new ed. ' by Howard Marshall, Stephen Travis and Ian Paul (SPCK 2011). Under a section entitled "Focus on Theology: The Church and Israel'. A good launching pad for some
