  • Re: How to teach Logos book aliases?

Thanks for your comments Jeremy and Denise. Dave: if I use this "Logos legal" formatting, will the reference in my book also be picked up if I'm reading say Psalm 2:2 in a different version (Targum for example)? The first stab I had taken before writing the post was just a global replace in the source text of Tehillim for Psalms and I compiled the work

  • Re: How to teach Logos book aliases?

I also imported a public domain all Hebrew language resource which references bible books in Hebrew. I told Logos the book is in Hebrew but it seems it doesn't understand the Hebrew bible names in Hebrew characters either. I know this is a longshot does anyone know if there is a workaround for that? It's an old large rabbinical text so I'd rather not

  • How to teach Logos book aliases?

I'm importing some public domain personal books; they are Jewish and as such reference the Bible books by their Hebrew names, for example: Tehillim for Psalms, shemot for Exodus, etc. Is there a way I can teach Logos these book names so it recognizes the verse references listed in these books? I noticed Logos understands a few of them for example if

Ah I must have seen the <download all> when I had something selected and didn't understand it meant <download all (of these related resources)> Thanks for the reply.

  • How to download all owned resources?

Just reinstalled on an Android tablet I had to wipe. There was a <download all> button for my library, I clicked that and stuff started downloading. Checked in on it a couple hours later and it had stopped. Not much was downloaded. I started selecting individual items because that wonderful <download all> button was gone. Is there a command

  • Re: TDOT font issue not displaying transliterations correctly

Sure thing Philana, I'm still wondering though is there a way for a user to change which font is associated with a given resource?

So probably you guys are on Macs? I'm using Windows 10; anyone wanting to reproduce the font problem in this resource may want to be sure to try it on a Windoze system. I should have listed that in my post. -Jeremiah

  • Re: How to safeguard the divine name in resources?

Perfect! I was only considering cases where His name was spelled out with vowels, but your example gave me the idea to pick up all these other variations as well (and when it's in Hebrew letters). Thanks so much Graham, this is really going to save me time when I make slides and handouts. Usually I have to go through and manually make changes otherwise

  • How to safeguard the divine name in resources?

I didn't see a "highlight" section so I figured notes might be the closest. Many of the scholarly sources spell out the Tetragrammaton with English letters. I often copy paste or take screenshots from these resources when making presentations. I need to make a custom filter that changes the English spelled out name of G-d into "Hashem" or even השם.

Thanks for taking the time Graham, I always appreciate it! I'd say "you're a rockstar" but that's actually offensive . How about "you're a classical music star!" :p

  • TDOT font issue not displaying transliterations correctly

Is there a way to change the font used in resources? My TDOT entries are usually all messed up in the transliteration presentation. It's not a huge issue just bugs me since I know just changing to another font fixes this as I often include transliterations in my writing and I see this issue if I use the wrong font. See screenshot Thanks in advance anyone

  • Re: page numbers not showing up in citations for JPS Classic Midrash collection

Hi Graham, any idea why it doesn't have page numbers? The hardback edition has page numbers. Logos also provides page numbers for the Babylonian Talmud of the same format by Neusner, same author. This is a modern work, his translation and commentary. Another strange thing I noticed was the traditional reference indicated near the top was 38C. If I were

This is happening again. Here is an example from the Jerusalem Talmud: guilt incurred in the holy offering [that the people of Israel hallow as their holy gifts]” (Ex. 28:38). Just as, in the latter context, the sin under discussion is the sin pertaining to those things that are offered and not to the sins of those who make the offering, so here

This is happening again. I'm taking selections from: Rabbi Yishmael. (n.d.). Mekhilta d’Rabbi Yishmael. and that is how the citations show up. No page information. Logos 8 on WINDOWS 10. The other collections in the JPB Classic Midrash seem citing properly.

  • Display Peshitta using Hebrew (Aramaic) fonts?

Is there a way to have Logos display the Peshitta text rendered in Hebrew fonts (instead of a Syriac)? I know how I can do this by hacking the font, but that will be quite time-consuming. It's quite slow-going for me to read the Syriac writing and it's not a priority for me to get good at it now. I remember years back seeing a Syriac and Hebrew parallel

  • Re: page numbers not showing up in citations for JPS Classic Midrash collection

APA was not working for me a couple days ago so I changed styles trying to get the page numbers. I changed back to APA now and it works. Now, I tried cycling through some styles and sometimes the page number shows up sometimes they don't (when returning to the same style). Anyway, I'm fine now as I see how to "trick it" to get the page numbers to show

I'm citing certain sections of these books for a book I'm writing and the page numbers are not showing up in the citations for the items in this collection: https://www.logos.com/product/3002/jps-classic-midrash-collection I acquired it as part of the Jewish Studies Library Expansion XL if that makes a difference. • Re: Newly purchased resource not showing in ios App

Thanks Todd, that fixed it for me. So to clarify, I typed "rebuild index" in the "enter passage or search" bar on the homescreen in the app (I didn't realize we had a command line area in the app before). Then I searched for TDOT, it showed up. I downloaded it to my ipad. Then I opened it. Thanks!
