• Re: Gen 1:1 aleph tav
Thanks for the link Mike. While I don't buy his argument, he does raise an interesting point that I hadn't considered and that led to some further research, and that is, in what language did Jesus actually speak these words ? In the Hebrew New Testament, which is of course a translation, the words appear as אֲנִי הָאָלֶף אַף
The designation of ζηλόω as a different lemma from ζηλεύω is not wrong , but when both words are included under the same heading it is more helpful for me if my goal is to get a broad view of how the lexeme is used. And that's the benefit: a broad perusal of the ways in which the basic word is used despite minor variances
The reason aleph tav in gen 1:1 is left untranslated is because that is the name of Jesus or His signature in the OT. It is also the equivalent of alpha and omega in the greek. therefore here is a clear proof of Jesus' pre-existence even before creation.
The word aleph tav is an object marker in Hebrew the same way

  • 4.0d Beta 1 Crash while Restoring Previous Layout

It appears that 4dB1 crashed because my restored layout upon opening had a number of morphological searches in it that conflicted with the update -- when I moved the contents of my document folder elsewhere, Logos opened and when I moved it back, it would crash again. 53148.Logos4Crash.txt
What a great resource. What incredible potential for fleshing out a passage. How about: 1] Applying these domains to the entire Old Testament? (Maybe a few others might be needed to accommodate Hebrew thought) 2] Writing an app that would comb a passage [within User defined limits] to gather all LN categories of that passage
Yes, I'd agree, those who are responsible for the writings we call the "Apostolic Fathers" are "just men". That said, they are much closer historically to the events of the New Testament and one can gain great insight into the culture and thinking of the NT by reading other writings of the general era.
If I may build

Many Greek words were coined during this period by the ANF and POST-ANF in particular, which are not in BAGD, but are in LAMPS lexicon. I don't know weather this is public domain or if there are any copyright
