Is anyone else having problems with the Logos' PrePubs feeds? It looks like the old titles are coming across every few days.

I found the link with the directions where it says to download the iPhone app (already have it) and then it shows you logging in and the Free Book Preview is there...except I don't see any free book preview. The link there takes me back to the iPod giveaway. How do I actually get to the book to look at it?

Try this: Stop the Logos Indexer via the Task Manager. From a command prompt run "bitsadmin /reset" without the quotes. Restart Logos. I generally have to do this several times during the install to get it to complete.

Does the L3 updater simply mean it'll pull down (download) all of the titles that I have a license for without having to go find the CDs and install?

I don't really have Cited By or Floating windows or anything "special". It's the normal layout I use for my reading plan which is reading through the bible. I didn't have this problem last week with Alpha 21. It just seems to have cropped up for me the last few days.

It isn't a crash. I just can't exit correctly. No matter how long I wait the spinning beach ball is there. When I go to the Force Quit Applications, it says Logos has stopped responding. Do you still want me to collect the stuff and post it?
-
Anyone seeing any problems with Alpha 21 where the normal quit doesn't work and it yields the spinning beach ball of death? I have to Force-Quit my way out of the application.

I've had that word pop into my head many times while reading some of these threads. but of course...that's just my opinion
I think that difference in perception is part of the problem. One

Sorry but your terminology isn't what most people term as "Cloud Computing" today
I'd still call P2P closer to a real cloud model than MS or Google. Resources are truly shared, making it impossible to actually serve warrants on any host hardware because the torrents are spread out. Also,

I think you're confusing ROUTED traffic with a "cloud" model.
Nope. I mentioned both because I do see a difference. But the "dangers" the privacy advocates are so paranoid about are the commonalities I am saying we have had for decades. It doesn't matter if you are talking about Ada, the
Cisco has been using a "cloud" model for decades. All of General Motors payroll data was handled through the Cisco "cloud." Even the assembly lines were wired to Detroit through Cisco routers.
I think you're confusing ROUTED traffic with a "cloud" model.

Never mind. Crossposted.

there is nothing illegitimate, unusual or inherently dangerous in what JimT has suggested.
From your strictly "programmer's" point of view maybe. But I was not criticizing JimT for that part of his post. I took issue with Jim saying the previousl posts on the forum are adequate to address
My warning to anyone considering using the program in ways other than designed is "DON'T" and if you do, don't assume the content of forum posts covers every possibility of what could go wrong.
Bob Pritchett quotes "You can turn off Internet Use in the program settings, and get updates by ordering DVD's on occasion
Which really gets to the bottom line: where do you want us spending our time? We've got a smart team. We can implement whatever grade of security and smart synchronization our users want. But my impression is that < 1% of our users care for more security than we presently offer, and the other 99% think that keeping deep
It does not matter if 10,000 users say they don't need or want this feature. Its important to the 10's or 100's or however many that say it is important. And to those that won't recommend or purchased from Logos until/unless this is addressed.
Vote here then if you haven't for the feature: http://logos.uservoice.com/forums
You missed what I said. What I did not say is: "Lock the whiney kids in the closet and ignore them." What I did say is" "Hey Bob! Give the squeeky minority what they want and maybe they will go enjoy using the program with their new found sense of security. It is really not worth the noise."
Ah my mistake. I misunderstood
-
I really think Bob Pritchett might as well give the "nagging widows" what they ask for and move on.( Luke 18:1-8 ) I can barely think of legitimate reasons for the "privacy" feature and those few examples involve serving covertly in countries hostile to Christianity. It just seems like ordering a Cadillac with a backhoe

I apologize in advance if my tone comes off wrong, but here goes. I find the term "whine about my purchase" unnecessary and somewhat insulting. It's sort of like me saying that I find some of the people posting on behalf of Logos as "fanboys" and I wouldn't necessarily want them representing my company. My point is that if we're here for a civil discussion
