  • Re: Index of Bible Studies

I'm still working on improving it. In about a week I should have another version ready, with all the books in Platinum (version 5). So it will be a lot bigger. Personally I use it when preparing Bible studies. After I have read a few commentaries on the passage, I look up the references in this file, which often give me other ideas for the Bible study

I have updated this file, adding more books to the index and correcting a few errors. To make it more useful to others, I have concentrated this time on books in base packages. In fact, I have indexed all the books in the Logos 5 Minimal Crossgrade and Starter packages, as well as many others. 8838.Index Bible Studies.docx

You might like to check out the personal book at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/46696.aspx which has a (free) apparatus for the Greek NT.

  • Re: Sermon Collection Indices

If you download the file at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/65323.aspx you will find 63 sermons from the Jonathan Edwards collection indexed - do a search for the string wrkjonedwrds to find them. You should be able to create an independent file for those sermons out of them, with a bit of copy and paste. Do you mind if I include your sermon indexes

  • Re: Index of Bible Studies

There are actually a lot less than 295 books done. Usually when I copy a Logos link, it is pasted in as Page..., a date, or something similar, so that I can do a quick search and replace in Word to put the book title. But in the book "Sermon Starters", the Logos link was pasted as the title of the sermon. So I left it, partly because it was a useful

Mostly by hand, but it isn't as hard as it seems. I show the table of contents on the left hand side of the pane, click each section in turn, copy as Wiki (CTRL+ALT+C), and then in Word type the reference (which is where errors can come in, thanks for the correction) and copy the link in Logos.

  • Index of Bible Studies

Several weeks ago I started making an index of Bible studies in Logos: sermons, meditations, outlines, commentaries that are not marked as commentaries, etc. - anything that would not show up easily in the passage guide. The attached file can be compiled as a Personal Book in Logos. The aims are to help me when I prepare material on a given passage

There is an index in two PDF files at http://www.spurgeongems.org/sermons.htm (where you can also download a PDF of all of the sermons in Biblical order).

  • Re: Stealth sales?

I just opened my shopping cart, and found an upgrade I had not ordered. I did not order any book, so it has nothing to do with the Free Book of the Month or any other book purchases. But the moment I clicked the Customize button on the Logos 5 Upgrade page, the upgrade was added to the shopping cart. Maybe not a bug, as it should not be possible to

The free PDF converter is back, today only, at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/pdf-ocr42/ Although looking at the comments, the OCR does not do a great job with PDF files that contain immagines of the text.

  • Re: 1 John 5:7-8 Textual Commentary on the Greek NT Question

I think you have imported the docx file as a Personal Book. In that case, it works like a normal commentary. Type 1John 5:7 in the space for a reference, and the variant shows up. First there is all the evidence for the text in the SBL edition of the Greek New Testament (the short text). Then the evidence for the longer text. After the longer text

  • Re: 1 John 5:7-8 Textual Commentary on the Greek NT Question

I checked the printed version of the book, and Metzger does in fact say eight manuscripts but lists only seven. However, there are actually nine Greek manuscripts: he does not list 177: a variant reading added to an eleventh century manuscript 629: a fourteenth-century manuscript You can find all these (and also the non Greek manuscripts) in the PBB

Sorry about that, but it wasn't spam. It was really and truly there. But the giveaway site obviously found some problem after they had made it available, and took it off the site and put a different program there. It happens occasionally on the site. But as longer as I am not suffering from hallucinations, the program was there at the beginning of the

Today only, you can get a free (usual cost $50) PDF converter with OCR for when the PDF was saved as images rather than text. It is at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/pdf-ocr42/ I have not tried it, but someone might like to see how good it is.

  • Re: PB: Variant Readings of the New Testament

A good idea, except it needs a bit more (a lot more?) work to work properly. At the moment, it is also picking up Rom 1:1 when the text says something like "Rom-Heb except Rom 1:1-5" (as in D), which is exactly a manuscript which it should not be displaying.

  • Re: PB: Variant Readings of the New Testament

Yes, it does take a while to compile. But it is big, with big tables, and it does seem that the PB compiler works harder on the tables. So most of the 12,000 errors are about the tables, and can be ignored. You can change the font if you wish, just make sure that it has all the Greek Unicode characters, and aleph.

  • Re: PB: Variant Readings of the New Testament

Bible Apparatus works well, I think the only difference between it and Bible Commentary is where it ends up in the Passage Guide, and when you jump to a parallel resource. I suppose you could also use the type Bible, again the only difference is where it shows up in the program.

  • PB: Variant Readings of the New Testament

For those who are interested in the textual criticism of the New Testament, I have created a docx file which contains many variant readings of the New Testament and the manuscripts that have those readings. The same readings can be found at http://www.laparola.net/greco/ where it is also possible to order the manuscripts in different ways. To import

  • Re: Missing Font in book

The missing font is TransRomanAH - you can find that out looking at the HTML code of this page. Obviously Tom Reynolds has this font, so can not see the problem neither on this page nor in Logos. See the discussion at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/45638/339621.aspx on the cause of the problem and how to fix it.
