The proper shortcut should use \Logos4\Logos4.exe; not the file in the \Logos4\System folder. Which are you using?
The proper one...
Does anyone know what the status of improving performance is at this point?
Here is another tip to improve performance... I have a fairly high-end PC (Dell XPS 9000, i7-920, 9 gb RAM, ATI Radeon 5870, 1 Tb HD), but Logos 4 was taking almost a minute and a half to load. (Incredible!) Switching between the passage guide
For those preparing a lexicon in any language, and especially for those dealing with a form of language used some two thousand years ago, there are a host of problems resulting from indeterminacy in the range of referents, fuzzy boundaries, incomplete sets of related meanings, limitations in the corpus and background
Observation: τήρησις is a greek noun with one Strong's number and three Louw-Nida semantic domain numbers indicating meaning depends on context.
Recognizing, of course, that context is an interpretive decision made by the translator, and is not necessarily the meaning intended by the author...
I would add every translation is trying to render the text as faithfully as possible and the question they must ask is: What do we assume you'll know about the original language and how much should we "explain" in our translation?
I would agree with the OP, as words that have been added could actually change the

Blair, since parables are by nature allegorical, other resources you may be interested in may be those dealing with parables, such as 'Interpreting the Parables,' by Craig Blomberg: http://www.logos.com/product/2956/interpreting-the-parables

I think that there is an undercurrent to Francis' post that is not being addressed here. Francis, correct me if I'm wrong...
Actually underlying my post is a concern I have long had with the way ministry studies are going. There used to be a time when common mortals saw themselves as such and recognized that there were a few who
I'm helping start a user group in Colorado and was looking for advice and ideas about what people do in other groups, how often they meet, what topics they cover, how they conduct the time. Is it just open, or is it organized? Whatever ideas you can give me will be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, Jim As we are also just starting

We have planned to meet from 10 am to noon this Saturday, the 15th, at Starmount Forest Country Club. After the meeting, hang out for lunch if you like. Dress is casual. We would welcome any Logos user that would like to attend. If you plan to attend, just drop me a note at mlt333 (at) hotmail (dot) com so that I know about how many to expect. Hope
Robert, that is a good program "e-knife", I handed that one out for years, but it does not compare with the one that I am handing out now!!! Another important consideration is the brightness of your monitor screen. I work on my PC all day long, and after 8 hours or so my eyes used to become so bleary tha I had difficulty focusing on anything - on the PC or not. So I turned the brightness down on my monitor, and although colors don't "pop" like they used to, I can now work much longer on
I would be interested in coming to such a group -- although I happen to be on call the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month. Greensboro is about an hour away for me. joh
Hey, Johnny! Still planning on coming? I hope to see you on the 20th...
Haven't heard much about this. Do we have an official plan or just show up and hang out and see what happens? If not, then what should we come prepared to do?
Michael, the simple answer is; the two are not the same, and if you thought you be getting the same Matt. Commentary in both sets you would be wrong and disappointed. In Christ, Jim
I think I was not clear about what I was comparing... For the EBC there are 1) a condensed, 2-volume set, 2) the expanded 12-volume

Does anyone know if the content of the Carson commentary on Matthew is the same in the 12-volume set as in the separate two-volume Matthew set?
