  • Re: Are old named and saved guides still available in Logos 8?

That's exactly what I was looking for, Mark! I ran several searches, figuring this was covered somewhere, and came up empty. Thanks so much!

Yes. I'm not talking about custom guides. I'm talking about how Logos (before 8) used to save guides that you added notes to as a type of document. You can still add notes to guides, but those notes are saved in notebooks and anchored in a different way. Guides are no longer saved as documents you can recall later. But what happened to all the notes

  • Are old named and saved guides still available in Logos 8?

Hey, all! I haven't used guides for saving my study notes for a little while but just had a reason to look up some old material and have no idea how to do it in Logos 8 with its new notebook integrations. Did I just lose all my old saved guides with all the exegetical notes in them?

  • Re: No results in Bible Word Study for נָחָשׁ 1.n (serpent)

Awesome. That's it, then. I reported it in the system as a typo.

  • Re: No results in Bible Word Study for נָחָשׁ 1.n (serpent)

Good catch! Sure enough, Logos added the "n." on my searches on not on Graham's. I removed them manually and got good results. How did you call up your BWS, Graham? I right-clicked Genesis 3:4 in BHS/WHM 4.2, hovered on the lemma and then chose BWS (and also tried on my customized "My Bible Word Study," as you can see in the screenshot). Looks like

That's about it. I guess a screen shot would have been helpful from the start: For the record, I did try changing the translation to NIV, since I saw that's what you were using, but it didn't affect the results. Aaron

  • [resolved] No results in Bible Word Study for נָחָשׁ 1.n (serpent)

Greetings, fellow students of the Word! This isn't the first time I have seen odd results in recent versions of Logos, but it is rare, and I have mostly ignored it. I was hoping the community could get me somewhere with this one, and it might help me when running across similar results in the future. Is there any reason I should get no results for נ

  • Exporting Morph Analysis to Passage List with headers

Hey, gang! I've been really impressed with the improvements to the passage lists exports lately. It is awesome to right-click a header in a report and immediately get a passage list where the subheadings from the report already exist in the passage list document. Bravo, Logos team! Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see a way to do the same

  • Re: 2-way Sync for reading plan

I, too, have an iPod (3G, in my case), and have not seen good syncing on the reading plans for a while. For the record, though, I just got off the phone with Logos tech support and they told me that the version of the app that fixes the syncing problems has been submitted to Apple but, as far as the tech I was speaking with knew, it had not been released

  • Re: Searching multiple Greek words

Thanks for the info, Dave. A little switch in my mental outlook toward Logos searching and I should be back to normal, then.

  • Re: Searching multiple Greek words

Am I correct in concluding, then, Dave, that the simple field syntax "lemma:" only works in a morph search? And am I also correct in assuming that whereas L3 would look for search hits in all levels of the text unless you restricted it, L4 will search only the surface text unless you tell it to search elsewhere?

  • Re: Searching multiple Greek words

Fred, I'm afraid your method only finds forms of one lemma. Note the Lemma column in your analysis. It won't find hits on the other two lemmas.

  • Searching multiple Greek words

Everyone- There has to be a better way to do this. What was very simple and powerful functionality with L3 seems to have become overly complicated and cumbersome in L4. One of my favorite tricks in L3 was to copy the heading of an article from TDNT so that I could search all the forms of a particular root and get a better feel for the way the word group

  • Re: How do you sign out of an install?

Yeah, I think getting overly technical about this particular use is doing the kind of overboard ethical and legal wrangling that Bob is trying to avoid. Nobody there can use my account. The other account we used to sign in with was more of a quick way out of having someone use my account as I ran to my next appointment rather than an attempt to rob

As I'm sure you're aware, Logos licenses allow you to install on more than one computer that you work on. This would have been a computer that he worked on in the offices. Otherwise I would have just uninstalled it. Besides which, future presentations on that computer are a strong possibility.

  • How do you sign out of an install?

Hey, all! This past week I did a number of presentations of Logos 4 in the Milwaukee area. One of them was at Northwestern Publishing House, where they had a better computer than the laptop I was carrying around with me. And since my MacBook was having issues at the time anyway, the rep from NPH and I decided we would just install Logos 4 on the local

Since I don't see a reply from anyone to Kevin's post, I just want to second it. This bug happened to me while I was doing an inservice with the professors of my seminary to demonstrate the usefulness of Logos in the classroom. I didn't even notice the error until later. I hope none of them did, as it would certainly be a mark against Logos as a useful

  • Re: Layout update

Same thing, but not as elegant. Let's hope it improves. Basically, you have to rename the most recent snapshot under the exact same name as the Layout in question. I usually click on the little pencil icon by the name of the Layout I am updating, copy the name, and then click on the snapshot title to select it and paste the name in. Like I said, not
