  • Working with Hebrew (Aramaic), Greek, and English in Logos 5

I just published a rather lengthy blog post on how Logos5 can be used to work with the Hebrew/Aramaic Masoretic text, the Greek Septuagint, and English translations. The matter arose because of a post on the Accordance blog showing what it can do. I wanted to see how to accomplish the same thing in BibleWorks9 or in Logos5. HERE IS THE LINK . I've worked

  • Re: LN Index for Swanson's Dictionary of Biblical Languages?

Thank you, George. I see that the way you did this is to use the Basic search and look at all text. This works because LN will be coded with a ##.### format. I do see that a search for 1.69 works, because it is the start of a sub-section in LN. A search for 1.75 will not work, however. I did find a workaround. It's inaccurate, but it will get you results

  • Re: Logos 5.1 - Image / Map search results?

@Milford: Thanks for bumping the thread! @Mark Smith: That's what I kind of was wondering, i.e., that tagging is still incomplete. The thing is, I have become so dependent on my searches returning all the results I need, that I worry when search results are inconsistent. It's not such a big deal w/ maps, but I have other threads where I have found issues

  • Re: Logos 5.1 Image Search window error

@Rosie: I do get scroll bars for any other type of search I do. @Rick: I've tried resizing, floating, F11 full screen, moving tab... No scroll bar @Mark: Tried the mousewheel deal (like I can do in a browser), but no luck there either.

  • Logos 5.1 - Image / Map search results?

I'm very happy to have the new image search feature with its list of type of images to choose from, but I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is searching. (BTW, I have Gold + Biblical Languages libraries, so your results will probably differ. I also do have the latest 5.1 update. I've confirmed that Logos has finished indexing all the updated stuff

  • Re: Logos 5.1 Image Search window error

Nope. Reading view (F11) shows more of the items, but still no scroll bar or page number links or way to get to ones below the ones in view. Odd...

  • Logos 5.1 Image Search window error

Just updated to 5.1 and appreciate having the image search added. When I do a search for something like "fish," I get 123 results (Gold + Biblical languages libraries), but there is no way to scroll the results. That is, there is no scroll bar on the right side. You can only see more results by enlarging the window in a floating tab, but there still

  • Re: English-Greek dictionary

Hi, Paul! Oooo.... Greek prepositions that could be rendered as "at"... that would indeed be a tough one. I suppose you could work through a lot of hits doing the reverse Greek > English, but here may be an instance where an English > Greek lexicon might be more helpful. Using your example of "preach," I did a little more checking in BDAG. Using "All

  • Re: English-Greek dictionary

Two things: To get English to Greek, I concur w/ those who suggest looking in a Greek>English lexicon. To be specific, Use a Basic search, choose BDAG, and instead of "All Text," choose "Formal Equivalent." Type the English word, and you should get a good range. So, for BDAG, use "Formal Equivalent" In Louw-Nida, Lexham Analytical Lexicon, and EDNT

  • Re: Tip: How to import Word Lists into v4.6 without installing Libronix v3

@Fr Devin Roza: Thanks. You helped me realize what's going on. I have my C: drive which is a SSD that is mainly for booting. I have all my data on the D: hard drive. I copied everything over to the C: drive, and it works. I was able to import the word lists, but I first tried the Import All Tool, but that crashed Logos 5 the two times I tried it.

  • Re: Tip: How to import Word Lists into v4.6 without installing Libronix v3

Using Logos 5, and I must be missing something... I have a bunch of Vocab Lists (with the .lbxvl extension) from earlier Logos versions. I followed the steps at the top of this page. As far as I can see, nothing happened when I ran the "Import Word Lists" command. Or am I missing where to open the lists? I look under Documents > Word Lists, but nothing

  • Re: Text Comparison Tool Questions (and Collections?) and Suggestions

@Darrell - Excellent! Took me a bit to figure out to change names of the books in my library (right click and then click to edit in right pane), and I was able to # them 01xxx, 02xxx, etc. I now have them in a collection and the Text Comparison link attached to the Fav Bar. Right click to open in a floating window, choose my collection, and all is good

Thank you, MarkB and fgh! I've got the Text Comparison on my FavBar. (should have thought of that...) Re-prioritized my Bibles! Looking forward to the 5.1 beta Thanks again!

  • Re: Greek Lemma Questions

@George who wrote: You can use the same morphological tags in a root search as in a lemma search in order to narrow down the forms presented. Off the top of my head ἔρχομαι ἧλθον >> A lemma search for ἔρχομαι will turn up all the aorist forms using ελθον since BDAG does not identify it as a suppletive form.

  • Re: Greek Lemma Questions

Uggghhh... Instead of starting another thread, I'll add here another matter I just discovered. I was working w/ prepositional phrases in the LXX and NT. I was looking for certain απο phrases. Using a Morph search with the Logos LXX, I start to type > lemma:apo and this is what I get: That last one has to be a typo somewhere. It turns out that the first
