Hi Andrew
How do you organize your files? Do you do one file with many sermons/illustrations? Do you do separate files for each? What do you find to be the best approach? Forgive me if this has been asked before. I want to sort out my approach before starting...
Personally I do use Personal

  • Re: Question for those who use Logos for your sermons and illustrations

Thanks for the warning Jack and David. I was indeed looking at Personal Books as the ultimate solution, but had considered notes at one point. I already do my sermon writing and illustration collection in Word, so Personal Books seemed ideal. Especially since every sermon I have done is already in word. Hopefully some minor formatting and I'll have

  • Question for those who use Logos for your sermons and illustrations

I have been considering putting all of my sermons and collected illustrations into Logos. The idea of having them indexed and searchable seems worth the effort. I have now gone through details on the features and how it all works. My question is this... How do you organize your files? Do you do one file with many sermons/illustrations? Do you do separate

  • Re: 1 GB DATA

I did a test using the usage statistics in the iPhone (I don't have my iPad with me at the moment) to see how much data was used... I can't imagine there is a huge difference between iphone and ipad data usage, but I will do a quick test when my wife brings the iPad home. I searched using my entire library as the scope, and it returned an initial page

  • Re: 1 GB DATA

I use logos with 3g and the most significant data requirement is the downloading of resources. From my experience it does not appear that logos downloads the resources you access remotely, but rather downloads the pages you are viewing. Searching is all performed on their servers, so again just the results are downloaded and even then I think you only

  • Re: IPad 2 - What are your thoughts

After making the transition to the iPhone 4 I kept thinking the retina display wasn't that big of a deal... until I would use the old iPhone which my wife assumed ownership of. I would keep thinking there was something wrong with the screen. Then I'd remember.... As has been stated with sharper text and better scaling you can fit a lot more text legibly

  • Re: How would you do this in the iOS App?

No, no NIV on iPad... We were using "old fashion" print bibles :) I had my iPad handy and used it to compare, sorry for any false hope I may have created ;) I use another app to read NIV...

Thanks for the info Mark. I tried that again last night using the iPad and it seemed to work. Not sure why I got so turned around. It may have been the reading right-to-left and not having used the interlinear much. Thanks again to both of you. Andrew

Thanks for the quick reply! I actually tried WBC last night, but haven't used WBC much and didn't realize the linking worked like that, so I was actually a little disappointed when I tried it. I also tried the lexham hebrew interlinear, but as someone who hasn't learned any hebrew, I just got confused... Your explanation definitely helps, and I can

  • How would you do this in the iOS App?

In bible study last night a question about translation came up, I was using my Ipad to read the text in both the ESV and NIV and caught an interesting difference in translation. I tried to dig into it a bit and hit a wall of sorts. Curious what resources or approach others might have used... using only an iPad or iPhone. The passage is Nehemiah 4:5

I too pre-ordered after reading the promotional materials... I almost feel silly having pre-ordered now, after having read this thread. I guess I hadn't really thought through all the things that could making paying up front such a poor idea. Thanks for the thoughtful comments. Alain does make a good point; in some ways it feels like we would be lending

  • Re: Tired of waiting for the NIV on iPhone
Andrew, Logos is at Zondervan's mercy, if it was left up to Logos it would already be available. This delay is in no way Logos faulf. Bob P said some publishers think of different platforms as additional revenue streams for them. Logos is trying to break new ground with a pay once for "all" platforms we own. I am thankful
The NIV is so popular because Zondervan bought shelf space at the front of all Christian book stores not because it is a good translation. It is not horrible, but it is by no means very good.
While it may be true that Zondervan made that business decision as a marketing approach - and I certainly disagree

  • Re: Haphazard PrePub "Schedule"

I agree that having the option for payment plans would be helpful. Having this option would reduce the number of times I have pre-pubs ship at the same time and I have to cancel one due to budgetary constraints. I have often wondered how many pre-pub orders they loose to this sort of situation and through what others have described on this thread. I

  • Re: Got an iPad?

I, like Robert, bought a 32GB w/ 3G and it does have plenty of capacity. For Logos and other reading activities 16GB would suffice... but as has also been pointed out, with the video capabilities and other great apps that exist I'm glad I went with the larger memory size. Being able to put videos like the learning Greek on there and not have to worry

I'm sorry if this question disturbs the ether surrounding Apple/PC polarities , but I have a PC at home and no intention of changing that, but need the portability and functionality

It sure seems odd to me that Logos training manuals wouldn't take advantage of the Logos engine... Did anyone ever receive a reply on this one?
