Previously, L5 crashed today twice. I then launched it off-line without a crash and posted my message above. I then launched L5 again and it appears to be working now. I will update this thread if I encounter any additional crashes or errors. thanks, David

  • Crash : L5 SR-2 (5.1.1.0623)

Edited: Subject L5 crashes during start-up and while the home page is still blank. L5 loads with no crash when I use it off-line. Tuesday I had updated L5 to SR2 and a few resources were updated too. Attached files: 0488.LogosCrash.txt 3286.LogosError.log thanks. David

  • Re: Word Biblical Commentary

Concerning communications... If "under development" means Logos is actively creating the digital text for the resource, then perhaps have another status state for public viewing that indicates Logos is awaiting digital content from outside of Logos. The content is needed before Logos can start work? Does the database timestamp when the pre-pub / community

  • Library: Open = Open in a floating window

Two of the three selectable ways to launch the Library appear to be identical. Could Logos change the first selection to mean this: "Open" = "open library viewed by last opened state" David

Glad Logos is sending notifications for item(s) on sale in wishlists. I wish the wishlist allowed me to remove items on it, however.

  • Re: SUGGESTION: Wider Library find box
Even though I've expanded the Library to fill the whole screen, the find box is just as small, and just as hard to use for more complicated rules. The box should, of course, automatically become as wide as the free space allows
• Re: Which one of these Collections Rules is Better?

Based on the feedback in this thread, I've modified my collection rule for the Gospel of John. Use this rule if you want to find all commentaries and monographs that pertain to or discuss John's Gospel. In my case, so far, there were two false positives, which can be easily removed: 1) doctrinal discussions in Calvin: Commentaries and 2) Carson's New

The whole point of citation in academic papers is that one's academic peers can refer to the original text for themselves and see how one has arrived at one's use of the citation and evaluate it properly. If that citation refers by default to the electronic version of the text, then it may be difficult
Obviously, I know I can quite easily find this info using Logos (and do it all the time ), but what about when my Logos is in one place, and it's just me and my paper study Bible elsewhere?
There is only one bible that fits the bill: The Thompson Chain Bible . You can get it in the original NASB and NIV

  • Re: Which one of these Collections Rules is Better?

Mark's rule excludes works that have "1 John" in the subject field, which makes the rule insufficient for works that cover both the Gospel and the Letter(s) of John. I modified the rule to handle that situation: type:commentary AND (subject:"N.T. John"....
Assuming Logos tagging is accurate
I'm starting to buy stuff in Kindle that I've gotten tired of waiting to appear in Logos. (However, I will never buy a commentary or dictionary in Kindle. That's strictly Logos' domain). I'm glad that Battles' translation of Calvin's Institutes finally appeared in Logos---at least they beat Amazon to the punch on that one
The price seems steep until you consider the page count (less than $.04 per page.)
I agree the best price per page (and per volume) is the entire set. The smaller offerings are higher in price.
a mere 127 volumes http://www.logos.com/product/33665/fathers-of-the-church-series
Thanks MJ. I would like it better if Logos had broken up the offering into smaller pieces. I do not know how prices are determined at Logos for this massive set, but using the average $12.29 per volume: Fathers of Ante-Nicene Era: $282
