• Re: open exegetical guide at the same time as the passage guide

I was baffled also until I realized it was under two categories. I am really delighted by the customizing of the layout. I had never used it before. It's already saving me time in getting a more usable page so I can get to work faster. One of the first things I added was a Copy Bible Verse window. I use that constantly.

I was wondering about the same thing. So I just tried it and it worked like a charm. I think I am going to do a little more with it and see what happens. There's a couple of tweaks that would make it rock. Thanks!

  • Re: How have the forums helped you?

I came here way back with Logos 4 and me converting over to Logos from other software and a large print library. I have found not only support for my use of Logos, but making better decisions as to resources including my computer infrastructure. I'm very grateful to have fellowship with other Logos users as we support each other.

I just did what Matthew did. That is very goofy. It hadn't downloaded as a pre-pub. Never had that happen before.

I think the OP is distressed at seeming to shoot at a moving target. I think I went with Portfolio around Logos 5 or 6. I then bit again here at Logos 8. For the life of me, I can't remember even really wanting Portfolio the first time, but this time it was a no-brainer and I am truly glad I did. Focus on the resources you get and don't pay a whole

  • Re: Translation of Gen. 1:1...scholars know better.

I am completely aware of the idea that the beginning is supposed to be soft. That is perfectly understood from the grammar and there are so many passages in Hebrew narratives that have the same indefinite sense. But all of the obtuse nature of beginning in 1:1 isn't so much grammar as it is simply before the explicit setting of the elements of day and

While you sort all of this out Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. Romans 8:26

Update: My dad appears to be near passing now, some time in the next 48 hours. Appreciate all of you in keeping him in prayer. Thank you so much!

The context of the prayer itself eliminates your question. Jesus said to pray like this or to pray in this manner. The prayer's whole purpose is to align ourselves with what God already does.

I have no idea as to your install size or your equipment, but the upgrading process is not the best way to evaluate the speed of L8. Once everything is in place and indexed, it's decidedly better. I've been on this since L4. L8 is the promised land for me.
Personally, I don't even notice the indexer running.
My hardware is old. It's not usually bad so much anymore, but a big pile of new or updated resources will clobber things.

FL Mac developers will probably post something in the Desktop Beta forum when this becomes viable. They are probably just getting it installed now.

Fred's screenshot is exactly what I referred to in my post. I think it might have gotten turned off with the 8.5 update because I noticed it too. Maybe FL could verify that.it is off by default. Shouldn't be IMHO.

My two-cents on this is that the indexer is just going to being a pig. When it runs, the best thing is to turn everything else off and maybe just use another machine. I never have a problem when I do this, it's only when I don't that I become exasperated.I can multitask with almost everything except when the indexer kicks in.

I grabbed the upgrade before the L8 sale ended, so I got the whole thing for an almost song. I will have to make some sort of search shortcut to maximize my use of it. Should be savor heaven.

Anybody find this particularly valuable? I'm mulling over an L8 Reformed package upgrade with it and the price is great. I have some Edwards which is excellent but nothing like this.

FWIW, the Exegetical Guide puts the latest Bauer at a user's fingertips. As much as I love all of the links in my texts, it's not quite perfectly there simply do to typos much less publisher issues. Besides, wouldn't you want to double check usage against the latest edition? This is leverage in the form of annoyance.
