Yep, it looks like I'm jumping off the Logos upgrade train for this go round. And not sure if Logos Now will provide enough value. So, I will just wait!

I think that Logos offers far less value for more money than it used to. I started with Bronze back in 2009 or so (Logos 4) and received a really decent library for the money with a lot of good titles and some sets. I supplemented it by buying up all the value-priced Libronix packages that I could find. Now, it seems, the books are not as plentiful

We all want better tools for Bible study. However, we must determine which tools will be best for us to use and whether or not we can justify the expense. I will examine the feature set on LN to see if it is worth the $10 a month Logos wants for it...

Using a car analogy, Logos seems to want to load you up with all kinds of options that you may or may not use. I would rather put the money into books and resources I will use. As I am invested in several Bible study platforms, I don't currently feel the need to have the latest and greatest. Just the tools I need to study the Bible. YMMV.

I can get L7 Basic for about $89, but not much compelling there either. So, unless I decide that I really need the SaaS features, I'll stay put. Did Logos ever finish the web engine improvements, anyway?

  • Re: Over $300 for L7 Features? Really?

The bad news is that the Bronze starter is the same as the feature set -- over $300. I may sit this one out and see what Logos comes up with in the future. I think my biggest problem with the SaaS is that if you stop paying, you lose all of the added features. I think it would be better that if you stay for at least 12 months, you get to keep a subset

[quote user="Denise"] Tony, are you adding on to the Logos5 crossgrade? $300 seems high. I paid $199, not an LN-izer, and crossgraded L6 earlier. Is it worth it? Judging from how few forumites can answer questions on how to use Logos features, I'd bet limited use is the rule for most. Or more accurately, a couple features of value per user. Worth $200

  • Over $300 for L7 Features? Really?

I just checked my price for the full Logos 7 feature set. It is over $300! And I don't really see much that even interests me. Am I alone? I know that Logos is moving from selling books to datasets and that they are trying to move everyone to the SaaS (Software as a Service) model. But for me, it doesn't give me much incentive to upgrade.

I have been running Android on my Asus Flip 2GB fine for the past few weeks. They are bugs---after all this is an alpha release. Testing Logos now. Seems to run just fine, even on a 2GB/16GB machine. http://tonythomastechtrends.blogspot.com/2016/06/android-on-my-asus-flip.html

[quote user="J. Remington Bowling"] I'm a bit confused as to why people are confidently assuming this is Amazon's fault and not FaithLife's. Maybe I'm missing something, but where has it been established that the issue is with Amazon and not with FaithLife and it's deals with publishers? [quote user="David Brandt"] I take issue with Faithlife for just suddenly dropping the feature with no notice whatsoever. By the time I received the email, the feature no longer worked on my Logos program. They could have given us some notice, even if only a few days. That would have given me time to at least export as many as possible. When I sold

I was pretty sure this was going to happen at some point. The "A" company probably doesn't want to use its infrastructure to facilitate its competitors. And publishers would rather you purchase the same work on multiple platforms to increase their influx of ducats. So, if you want to read a title in "A" format, you need to buy it from "A". Otherwise

RIP Send to Kindle: Send-to-Kindle feature You are receiving this email because you have used the send-to-Kindle feature in Logos 6. Due to a combination of technical, legal, and permission issues outside our control, we retiring this feature effective today. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you. Back on track... It is disturbing that some of the "front line" people were affected by the layoff. They are the face and voice of the company and people are very loyal to them. Perhaps they did not fit the "used car salesperson" mode that we have all become used to of late. Still, a company like FL should nurture those who build strong customer relationships

Anyone who has taken the time to read Bob's book will understand how the company operates. They are very entrepreneurial and take a lot of risks and anyone who works for them should probably know this. It is unfortunate that so many were laid off but it was probably just a matter of time.
