Thomas, Thanks for the response. I wasn't attacking back or being defensive. I really was trying to understand the substance of your rebuke (if one was intended). Psalm 141:5 and all that I've noticed enough of your helpful comments in other threads to know that you are a helpful guy. All the more reason to take you seriously. Russ
Can I pick one tiny nit? This is a forum not a blog. (Don't hit me!)
Brother, You are going to have to elaborate on your comment. I'm certainly not wanting to hit you but I can only guess that your anticipation of violence on my part means you intended a mild rebuke of some sort. I'm not catching the nuance of your

  • Could the perceived speed problems be exacerbated by false expectations from the tutorial videos?

It is obvious that there are different perceptions on the performance of L4 in regards to speed. I wonder if part of the problem could be that many people are expecting their installation of L4 to be as fast as seems to be portrayed in the tutorial videos. For instance, the results from a passage guide search in the video entitled " Home Page Bible

  • Re: Synching Options
Imagine if Logos changes the default to, "sync on exit only", the minute someone lost hours worth of study, there would be complaints on the forum, "why doesn't this thing auto-sync every minute to save my work."
I wouldn't recommend making the default to sync on startup and exit. I'm just suggesting that the options

  • Synching Options

I want the synching capabilities but it does seem to affect performance when they are running all the time. I would like to be able to choose an option that syncs at startup, exit and manually.

Ditto . . . Ditto . . . Ditto. Would really like to have custom highlighting styles. Would also like to be able to search for them like tags.

One more idea . . . It would be really helpful for the Speed Search functionality to be incorporated in a desktop or dashboard widget that could then launch Logos 4 if needed.
Russ, there is a discussion about this on this forum somewhere....it's not (see as you type) available in v4.
Thanks, Robert. I just added my two cents to that discussion. It is located here: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3483/34157.aspx#34157 . It is title Simple Search which explains why it didn't show up

  • Re: Simple Search function

Would like to add my vote for Speed Search in Logos 4. Not so much because of the speed but for the way the as-you-type results assists jogging my aging brain in remembering the right search terms. My suggestions would be either: Incorporate a Speed option along with Basic, Bible, and Morph in the search box. Or Let the results appear as you type in

  • Re: Prioritizing and 'starring'
I thought that the "stars" was just a personal preference thing and not a program thing..."I like this..I'm giving it 5 starts" and then you could search just your "5 star" items... Am I wrong?
No, you are right. That is the problem that Mark is identifying. I agree with him that large libraries would be more manageable

  • Bible Speed Search in Logos 4

I appreciate that Logos 4 is much faster in its ability to search the entire library. However, I haven't found a way to perform a Quick Bible Search where you get immediate feedback from the results of a Bible search as you type. All the ways to search in L4 of which I am aware require an execution of the search before results are displayed. I have

Thanks, Robert. I was just completely overlooking it. Kind of fits right in there with all the highlighting styles. Russ

  • Rearranging Text with Visual Filter Documents

The Feature List contains the following paragraph on Visual Filter documents: Visual Filter documents - Want to highlight all the "therefores" so you can see what they are there for? Want to rearrange the Greek text (or even the aligned English!) to start a new line at every conjunction? Almost any search can be preserved as a visual filter assigned

You can customize: Text Scale Paper Position (Left, Right, Center) Paper Width Background Opacity Background Color Text Color The ability to have that level of customization along with a floating highlighting palette like Scrivener's Inspector palette would be incredible.

  • Reading View on the Mac Version

I would like to see the Reading View on the Mac version function more like the full screen views in writing programs like Scrivener, Write Room, and Ulysses. These programs remove all distractions from the entire OS and allow you to set background and text colors.

  • Re: Synoptic Parallel Highlighting

Found the highlighting tool . . . I was under the impression that it wasn't available yet. Can't currently highlight in a note. Will that be a future feature? Was able to come up with an alternative solution (although it is a bit cumbersome). Was able to open multiple instances of a Greek text in a layout with the Synopsis resource (see below). You

  • Re: Synoptic Parallel Highlighting

Playing around with this a little bit and found that when you past the columns of text from the parallels into a note, they retain their column format (although a little narrower for some reason) and the text can still be selected. Will the coming highlighting feature allow highlighting with custom styles and colors in a note? If so, this might be a
