By the way, just below I've pasted a brief description from Buth and Setterholm's Hebrew Audio Pronunciations . (For those who own this resource, just click the info button in the upper, right-hand corner of the Pronunciation tool). Language Hebrew and Aramaic Style Israeli Biblical Hebrew Reader Dr. Randall Buth This vocabulary reading follows standard

Thanks, David. Your reply helps confirm and clarify some things. Now I better understand where you're coming from.
As I've said before, knowing exactly how certain things were pronounced is uncertain. Knowing how certain things were NOT pronounced IS certain. Many Hebrew scholars employ impossible and indisputably wrong pronunciations
Thanks for pointing this out Tavis and now I'm now convinced I'd like a copy. The obvious follow-up question is whether the THGNT will be available in Logos and, if so when would you think that might happen.
Hear, hear!

Here's another interview with Randall Buth on Michael Brown's Line of Fire program (starting at 55:00 min.): http://thelineoffire.org/2017/03/16/thoughts-on-debating-about-jesus-the-messiah-and-a-new-way-to-learn-biblical-languages/
I don't have much faith in Buth, particularly regarding Hebrew. He may do better with Greek (which I think is his specialty), but I'm not convinced.
Hi, David. You're certainly free to disagree with Randall Buth on any number of issues. For instance, I'd assume that you would prefer him to adopt a different pronunciation
IMO, learning Modern Hebrew helps with some vocabulary, but I've found that learning Biblical Hebrew helps far more to learn Modern Hebrew, than learning Modern Hebrew contributes to Biblical Hebrew. Unless you have a different reason to learn Modern Hebrew now, I'd just concentrate on Biblical Hebrew now, and save Modern
https://www.logos.com/product/46567/writings-from-the-ancient-world-upgrade This probably has a limited audience, but it's slowly progressing. More so than some more obvious candidates. I hope for it, since it kind of brackets iron-age Israel .... Nuzi texts, Egypt, Neo-Babylonia, late-Bronze Hittites, and so forth. A nice addition

It also looks like James P. Allen has substantially revised and updated his volume on The Ancient Egyptian Pyramid Texts (2nd ed.), which didn't make it into Writings from the Ancient World Upgrade (10 vols.) . These are excellent editions. I wouldn't mind, however, if more and more ancient text collections went fully digital, especially where advances

Jeremiah, there are many others who desires a paragraph formatting option for our Hebrew Bibles. It comes up from time to time on the forums. Default Hebrew font size have been another problem that they've acknowledge (e.g., the font size of BHS remains huge even when I set it to the smallest option, particularly on my 1080P monitor).

Changing the setting for Hebrew will not affect NASB users. It's already cllickable it just doesn't do what the title says. Instead it changes the font size of the verse numbers only. I probably made it confusing when I wrote "settings" it's actually as Denise wrote above in the "olympic icon" area

Agreed, this collection looks excellent! I don't think I'll be waiting for Logos on this one, however—although it'd be a great fit. The slides include abbreviated notes/commentary, annotations, biblical references, and occasional references to relevant scholarly sources. It's similar to Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary but with

Ken, you can check out the following thread for some common factors that cause Logos to slow down: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/139432/890650.aspx#890650 . See if any these factors that I and others suggest apply to your situation. If you still have problems, then providing the additional information that alabama24 suggests would be the next

  • Re: Did Jesus and the NT Persons speak Greek or Aramaic?
Was Greek or Aramaic the language of the land during Jesus' time? I've heard it said that Mary Magdalene wouldn't have spoken Greek, but I've also heard that Greek was the "common tongue." Can somebody clarify this for me? Also, what tools in Logos are there for Aramaic? Any Aramaic New Testament? Alex
Hi, Alex
