  • Re: Update has started!

Fortunately mine ended up being roughly 90 minutes in total including a 1.7 GB download and the resulting index. Just finished launching Logos and messing around for a few minutes before heading to bed.

  • Re: Anyone else get a huge update?

Yes, I had about 1078 resources update. Looks like this was an update to the Perseus Collection based on my perusal of the list.

Rosie, this is quite interesting. Seems that there is more than meets the eye here as far as the performance results. Your chipset is a monster, no question there although I'm not sure how much use Logos makes of the multi-threading that makes the i7 980X shine. I get search results in under 2 seconds running the same parameters granted I have much

  • Re: Speaker Label, labeled wrong in Genesis 3:3

Thanks Annie for chiming in on this. I can see the logic Logos used to apply both tags to God here based on the verbs being in the 2nd person. However this highlights one of the cautions of these tags for the user. It seems that this feature will mainly be used by users without much experience in using the language tools where intermediate and advanced

[quote user="David Paul"] If you don't mind, can you be even more specific in your question. What she says is fully in keeping with the Biblical concept of "flee sin". It is rather silly to assume, given the entire Book's attitude toward sin, that they couldn't eat the fruit, but using it for hair and skincare products, building a treehouse and tire

  • Re: Basis for tagging Biblical Person in ESV Rev 1:4 (help)

Dr. Runge, Thanks for chiming in on this discussion. As you mentioned, verse 8 gets a bit sketchy as to whether the Father or Son are being cited here. My own pastor-teacher teaches the Father is being designated here due to the title "Lord God" which refers to the Father in Luke. This is an area where I have personally leaned towards the Son 51% to

  • Re: Bible Word Study and Lexicon connections to ROOT coming?

This is a great question Michael. At the moment you can select root from the right click menu as you stated but you are forced to launch a BWS on the lemma and then launch a separate BWS for the root after the report runs from the BWS root section. This is certainly redundant when you could just do this from the right click menu under root in the first

  • Re: Basis for tagging Biblical Person in ESV Rev 1:4 (help)

Good point Graham, I think the translator's are trying to highlight the connection between the pronoun(s) (him who) and the verb (is, was etc.). I think this serves more as a syntactical map for the English reader but does not change the resulting meaning or intent as the word order is not important in Greek (except to show shades of focus) as it is

  • Re: Basis for tagging Biblical Person in ESV Rev 1:4 (help)

Actually the NRSV and the ESV are tagged the same. In Koine the pronoun "him" (and ultimately who) is implied by ho. In the NRSV this is placed on "him" as opposed to "who" in the ESV but both words are implied by the Greek word ho. The Strong's tag to G3588 (ho) is the same and correct for both translations. Louw-Nida is 92.24 which is also the same

In Rev 1:4 &5 the three Persons of the Trinity are being addressed one by one starting with the Fatther: "Him who is and who was and who is to come"; the Holy Spirit: "and from fthe seven Spirits who are before His throne"; and finally Jesus in verse 5: "and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings

  • Re: default Greek font in Logos 5

I'm personally happier with the default fonts in L5 over the L4 fonts. Skolar is a dream for me and the L5 Greek font is a bit better to my eyes.

  • Re: Community Ratings Suggestion

Yeah I feel the same way as Dave. The community ratings in my opinion are not very desirable especially since some folks use them as a "tagging" system (as David Ames gave in example above) and not a true rating system. With the tag system being so difficult to manage I guess some folks use the ratings system and that is not something I want to see

I'm a bit shocked that these links are virtually broken. Based on the practical uses for this resource the direct linking is key. The 1st edition print versions of this set are actually only about 14 years old so they are not old. Mark brought in a great point, I hope Logos re-releases the BAGD since so many resources cite and link to it. I have the

Martin, I agree with you in full on the library window. It has been a total chore for me to work with in L4 & L5. Doing anything more than a basic resource find feels clunky. I have not gone in and updated my prioritized resources for quite a while due to this very reason. I was hoping for better window management with L5 and also better drag & drop

[quote user="Chris Roberts"] I think the appearance of L5 on the Mac still falls far short of L5 on PC, the same as L4 did, but L5 Mac is still a bit of a visual improvement over L4. It isn't a great improvement, but it's moving in the right direction. For instance, I like the places where the UI is brought more in line with the PC version (one place

  • Re: Logos 5 vs 4 speed

There is definitely a speed boost in L5 over L4. As Richard and David mentioned the pause to open the layout menu is around 2 seconds but I consider it a minor annoyance that will hopefully get patched out soon. While it is impossible to do a side by side comparison at this point I firmly believe searching to also be optimized to a noticeable degree
