  • Re: Scrolling on MAC

There is a significant scrolling problem with the latest release of Logos on OSX 10.11.4: the scrolling on the homepage and on resource windows is not smooth and does not correctly dither the lines as one scrolls. This happens in all program scaling but is more noticeable above 100%. This was not an issue for me before the latest update.

I have the same problem -- same hardware profile.

  • Highlighting

The new "smart" highlighting/selection feature is frustratingly imprecise; often dragging the selection over into unwanted sections of the text. Is there any way to disable this mess and simply return to manual highlighting?

  • Re: $322.69 for a crossgrade? for bronze?!!??? That's insane...

I share your concerns. It's easy for any complaint about Logos' pricing model to sound like sour grapes but it does seem as if Logos is pricing themselves into the range of an expensive/elitist toy rather than an accessible tool for ministry. My recommended upgrade (platinum) weighs in at just under $1000 and the cross grades range from $125 to $240

  • Re: Problems with Shutting down on a mac

Same problem here on a late 2013 Macbook Pro under both Mountain Lion and Mavericks. If Logos is open when shutting down the computer the shut down will fail and one must force stop Logos to proceed. I have to be conscientious about completely exiting Logos to avoid this frustration and this problem is unique to Logos in my experience.

I haven't noticed this yet but I'll watch the next time Logos downloads and indexes.

  • Re: Inherent problems with Logos 5 for Mac?

Bill, I just moved from a PC to a Mac when my i7 Toshiba died ... I just couldn't do Windows 8. The move was smooth and I've been very impressed with the MacBook Pro. With respect to Logos 5, it works and I don't see any significant difference between the Windows and OSX experience. Overall, my impression of Logos 5 is that it's a useful resource but

  • Re: No Logos App in the Amazon App Store?

I agree there's some proprietary nature to all these devices but it's interesting one can read Kindle books, view Amazon instant video and listen to Amazon MP3s on the iPad and on other Android devices but one cannot access either Google Play or iTunes content on an Amazon device. Seems a bit one sided ....

Amazon's highly proprietary model is the greatest weakness of their tablet devices and the primary reason I'll be replacing my Fire with an iPad or true Android tablet this year. The Fire's a great e-reader but Amazon's decision to deny users access to Google Play makes it a second-rate device. Something to consider for those looking for a tablet .

Yes, the link works but when I click on download ( http://www.amazon.com/Logos-Bible-Software/dp/B0062RM1VQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=mobile-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1338325334&sr=1-1 ) Amazon says the page doesn't exist. I also can't find the app in the Amazon appstore by searching for it from either a PC or my Kindle Fire.

Yes, that's the Biblia app that has a Spanish language focus. The Logos "Bible" app seems to have disappeared.

  • No Logos App in the Amazon App Store?

What happened to the Logos App in the Amazon App store? Biblia (the Spanish version) and Faithlife are still there but no basic Logos app. Even the link from Logos is dead ( http://www.logos.com/kindlefire ).

  • Re: Pick and Choose or Buy a Set

There are some useful resources for finding the "better" commentaries. On logos check out D. A. Carson's guide : http://www.logos.com/product/5342/new-testament-commentary-survey-6th-ed . Also check out the website "Best Commentaries": http://www.bestcommentaries.com/ . I would agree with Carson's observation that many series are "uneven" and that often

  • Layout Question

I've created a layout for my lectionary & daily devotion but was wondering if there's any way to set it up so the current date is shown when the layout opens? As it is, the date reflected is always that of the last layout update so I have to manually advance to the current readings.

  • Re: New Feature in Logos 5: Popular Highlights

[quote user="JimT"] Maybe we Logos users expect and demand more because we spent more time and money on products and services from Logos than any other software product ever produced ... I for one wish to be able to TURN OFF the various cloud and sharing features, yet keep internet on for updates and the like. In general, I turn off every possible feedback

I suppose if individuals would rather Logos earn interest on their money rather than earn interest on their own savings it's a great idea. But one wonders if it's good stewardship. Also, it raises the question of why there's no monthly charge associated with the "piggy bank" when Logos charges $5/month for its payment plans? Isn't the same "processing

[quote user="DMB"] Gregg ... at least your wife has good taste. I thought your comment was so funny, since two years ago, we compared L4 to a jag sitting in the garage. I do think, though, that like the absence of good help files and manuals, a good set of company advice on what drags L4 vs makes it go would have been nice. Every time I see one of these

  • Re: Why I am starting to hate this software

I've reached the point where I look at Logos 4 like I look at my wife's MG Midget: It looks good sitting in the garage and it's fun to play with sometimes but when you have to rely on it you realize how unreliable it is. Unfortunately, Logos 4 has been an experience in slow and glitchy performance from day one. I've upgraded both my computer and memory
