I bid on both. How can you tell how close something is to getting pushed over?

  • Re: Keeping Spiritual fit?

Increasingly, I am using Logos in my devotions. I use the Bible reading plan for reading the OT. I use my paper Bible for NT readings, though I have my commentaries nearby if I have questions. I have also been using the "Handbook to Prayer" to lead me in my morning prayer times.

  • Re: Hope for the Heart Biblical Counseling Library - June Hunt

I have not acquired any of the June Hunt materials, nor have I perused them very closely. Therefore, my response is more general than specific (and I don't know that it applies to June Hunt's materials). I don't like Christian counseling resources that say, essentially, "oh, you are depressed? Here is a Bible verse for that. Anxiety is your issue? Here

  • Stats from Forum Week Meet and Greet-most used resource

I decided to compile a list from the recent “Meet and Greet” thread that garnered 777 posts. I was particularly interested in the “most used Logos resource (other than the Bible) question. A few brief points before I go on : 1) Many people would list a general resource (i.e., commentaries) rather than a specific. This was by far the majority category

27 volume Boice commentary. Really excited about this, though I do not think it will dislodge Johnnie Mac as my favorite. International Standard Bible Encyclopedia. I haven't played much with it yet, but I was very excited by the few resources I chose to look at. I passed on some other deals.
Which for the vast majority of Christianity was too expensive for most churches to own a full copy. However, the amount of scripture committed to memory was phenomenal.
I struggle to remember even 10 verses. Darn internet distractions.

Also, Internet speed is not an issue. PC downloaded quick and fast. Mac isn't even trying.

  • Re: Advice?

I'm 38, and in many regards feel the same way. I have a well-paying job that I enjoy, but the desire to "preach the Word" continues. I am trusting God's timing, serving in the church, and teaching when given the opportunity. In the last 12 months, I have preached 5 or 6 sermons and in fact will be teaching on the atonement on Sunday, Lord willing. Educate
Great job! Noted two things: The Ante-Nicene Fathers (1 vote) is part of the Early Church Fathers (5 votes). "Chalot (?)" stands for CHALOT, i e the Concise HALOT.
Thanks for the clarification on the Concise HALOT. Makes so much more sense. I should have linked the Ante-Nicene Fathers and the Early Church Fathers--simple

  • Electronic distractibility

I found this article in The Independent quite interesting. Professionally, I am a neuropsychologist and so specialize in memory and attention. A common complaint that my patients bring is that they simply cannot focus. They then share with me how "wired" they are; thousands of texts sent per month, a central line from their brains to Facebook. As users

Yes Dewayne, in your library you can customize your preferred resources. I am sure that someone will explain in detail with pictures how to do this, but I have all of mine prioritized.

  • Narrowing a search

I wanted to search my library for the term "legalism" for a sermon I am doing later in the summer. However, when I type in legalism in the search box, it returns not only legalism, but also legal, legally, etc. I have tried putting it in quotes, but doesn't help. Is there a way to narrow a search like this? Just adding "legal" grossly inflates the resources

  • Paper verses Logos

I realize that I am writing to a biased crowd, but I would be eager to hear people's thoughts on that advantages and disadvantages of doing daily quiet times/devotions (not in depth study) on Logos verses using a paper Bible. Paper advantages: 1) A sound sense of tradition and connection with the church fathers who studied and preached from an actual
