If the app can't read/write to the directory where it keeps its preferences and other initialization information, it should throw something into its log or otherwise alert users, don't you think?

Well, "Launchbar" is an application that I use which allows me to quickly get to actions on my Mac using the keyboard instead of the touchpad: https://www.obdev.at/products/launchbar/index.html I am extremely familiar with the terms, and am sorry my response seemed obtuse. As I said, I was launching from the Applications folder directly. I don't keep

I did use the logging tool. I'm betting it never gets that far. Email sent to support

Here are more logs. Lots of errors for both the logging tool and Logos. I have re-installed and even rebooted (which I hate to do). What are my options to get this running?
-
Deleted, re-installed, no difference. Same issue. No function at all. Obviously not getting past the initial launch. Anything in the logs?
-
Sorry. "Under 8" should have been "Under Edit." I have no idea how that happened! I have been launching from Applications (or Launchbar). I'll delete it and re-install.

I am seeing two posts above with logs in them. Do you not see them? I'll post a screenshot next.

If I try to add logs, the forum throws an error!

When I start Logos 7 on my Mac, it doesn't completely start. The icon shows up, and there is a menubar with Logos and Edit. Under Logos, there are 5 items, all of which say, "Untitled". Similarly, under 8 there are 7 items that all say Untitled. They have different keyboard shortcuts showing, but it's obvious that Logos isn't starting. I downloaded

I had changed my editor to "plain text" and it worked fine. Which editor are you using (located in "Site Options" in your profile).

A couple of minor corrections... There are a couple of apps that let you view Flash on an iOS device. Why anyone wants to is beyond me (I removed Flash from my computers; it's an abomination as far as I'm concerned), but it is certainly possible to do so (see, for example CloudBrowse). The market numbers are pretty difficult to assess and vary greatly

Bill, you will find fans on both sides of that conversation, I'm sure, but you said a couple of very important things in your post: First, you don't mind buying Apple products. Second, being able to customize and tweak is not a priority for you. Given those two things, I think your choice of an iPhone 4S is right on. I am typing this on an iPad 2, and

I made such a move over 5 years ago and have never looked back. Logos speed is quite good on my Mac, although I suspect the SSD has a good deal to do with that. Overall, OS X has a more sophisticated scheduler than Wndows and so tends to handle multitasking better. I think this helps Logos. I will assume that you've looked at the (small and shrinking

David, Rev. Kelly is right on, but think of it like this: When you purchase Logos, you are buying content, not the engine. The engine is always free. There are engines for PC, Mac, iPhone/iPod Touch, iPad, Android (beta), and BlackBerry (beta?). The engines sync with the content in the cloud, giving you "universal" access to the content and your additional

Good: Clarity, especially using everyday language and illustrations from what is really happening "in the world out there." Accuracy in use of scripture and reflecting both the time and the tone as well as the core definitional meanings of the scripture. Bad: Unapplied commentary. If you simply tell me stuff *about* the scripture without helping me

One brief note: there are rumors of an upcoming MacBook Pro refresh that will have the MBP be much more like the Air. That said, right now, I would go with the Air... I use a MBP with an SSD and 8GB, which is overkill for most people...

Joel, as Jack implies, it really depends on how you use Logos and what features are important to you. I have long since stopped using Logos for Windows on my Macs and used Logos for Mac instead, but I do not exercise many of the more scholarly features of Logos in ways that others do. I would suggest giving it a try. You can always add the PC version

Note: this changes in Lion. In Spaces, you need to assign Logos to the space, not just drag it. Let me know if you need details about how to do that... I'm mobile at the moment...
