I'd like to upgrade my engine to Logos 5, I currently have the Scholar's (KF) edition, since we don't know what the "crossgrade" option will be yet, my question is can I upgrade to the Starter edition ($50) and purchase the timeline ($20) and then if I like the future "crossgrade" better do that for the price of the crossgrade less the Starter and Timeline
The latest MBPs have TRIM support in their version of Snow Leopard. Performance for L4 is improved greatly with a good discrete graphics card. Don't stint on that. I think MBPs have a choice, so get the better one.
Hmm... I've been unable to get TRIM enabled in my 2011 Macbook Pro with the latest release (10.6
More details on TRIM is here . Also Snow Leopard support TRIM in the new MBA's which I didn't know, so if you buy a MBP with an SSD it might also support TRIM in which case my comment about TRIM is moot. :)
You're close. Snow Leopard does not support TRIM as of the current release (10.6.6). However, some SSDs have
Benjamin, now I am salivating :) Too bad we don't have a Costco in NZ, a good reason to visit the US (enjoyed listening to your choice of soundtrack too - TSO?)
Glad you enjoyed, Aaron. I was surprised at the speed difference! But 5400 rpm is pretty slow... (Yep, Carmina Burana and Tracers , both from TSO's Night

I bought the base 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro and I wasn't very happy with Logos' performance so I bought an SSD and it greatly improved the speed. A SSD is probably one of the best performance per dollar computer upgrades. Here's a video I made comparing various programs (including Logos) running on Apple's stock Hitachi 320GB 5400 RPM drive vs a 128GB
I have Scholar's and a 1st gen Macbook Pro and for the last 10 hours it has said "Logos Bible Software is downloading updates (0% of 5.8GB). The indexing process is using a very high amount of CPU and has been all night. I'm wondering if I should kill it and start over or let it continue to run?
36 hours so far
I grew very tired with Microsoft Windows crashing on me, and I started using Linux (Debian) and was delighted to see its speed and reliability.
Have you tried Windows 7? I have used Windows 98/XP/7, OSX, Linux (RedHat, Gentoo, Ubuntu), and even FreeBSD (which OSX's kernel is based on) as my primary desktop at some

Here's an example... I don't want to turn off the chapters and verses, I just want to see an outline... Acts 1 in the Literary Study Bible shows the outline below that makes it easy to see where each section/topic/passage begins and ends... 1. 1:1-7:60 Coming of the Holy Spirit to give birth to the church 2. 8:1-12:25 The church expands beyond Jerusalem

I just read /Chapters & Verses: Who Needs Them?/ by Christopher R. Smith in Bible Study Magazine... In Logos is there a way to show an outline of a book of the Bible like in the ESV Literary Study Bible where it shows passages where they break naturally instead of the chapter breaks? I have the Scholar's Library for Mac.
