I've read that Logos 5 won't run under XP. If you can't have Logos 4 and 5 on the same account, and if it's true Logos 5 won't run under XP, what does that mean for people who are now running Logos 4 on both an XP machine and Vista or Windows 7 machines?

I see two main areas of frustration expressed in the forums regarding Logos 5--confusion about package upgrades and confusion about features. I’d like to address the confusion about features—something not new to version 5, but certainly continued with it. In short, the confused customer who just purchased Logos version whatever, and is wondering why

Like everyone else, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what's included in the minimum crossgrade. But... I can't help but wonder "why?" those two features would not be listed in the Starter and Bronze packages if they plan to make them available in the crossgrade. I do think they seem to be two of the more basic (less exotic) new features--and the

Mark, Thanks for the quick reply. I think the key statements in these two links as related to my question/concern would be the excerpts I pulled out and pasted in below. But just as a sidenote, I had read Bob Pritchett's post a few days ago, but when viewing the upgrade pages, it looks like the "Clause Search" feature isn't available in any Logos 5
-
Under Logos 4, I originally purchased the Bible Study Library and have since purchased additional resources separately. My interest in Logos 5 is primarily due to the new Timeline feature and Clause Search feature. If I'm following the upgrade web pages correctly, in order to get the Timeline feature, I'd have to upgrade (at minimum) to the new Bronze

Tommy, I apologize for not responding sooner. I was out of town. Let's say I have just two layouts ( A & B ) and two Bible collections ( Bible 1 & Bible 2 ), both of which have been flagged to show up in parallel resources. And let's say I have not yet selected a collection to be the current/active collection for either layout. In either layout, If
-
Hi, Tommy--thanks for your question. It seems to me that when a collection is selected for a layout that it should be as much a part of the layout as any other element of the layout. As such, I would expect it to stick with the layout, whether switching to it from another layout or when closing and then restarting Logos with that layout. In that sense

Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping there was a setting somewhere I had missed, but I guess that's not the case. Hopefully it will be corrected down the road.

Hi, Dave! Yes, I am using the arrow keys to cycle through/between Bibles. I think what you are experiencing is similar to what happens to me, but with the following differences. As the picture below shows, when I first start Logos and click on the drop-down arrow for Parallel resource sets, it shows my "Bibles - Core Group" listed first and checked

I have six Bibles in a collection titled "Bibles - Core Group". When I start Logos, that collection is always the first collection listed and has a check-mark by the collection title, but Logos still defaults to its own "All parallel resources" collection unless/until I click on the Parallel resource sets drop-down arrow. When I click on the drop-down

Steve, Please don't apologize--absolutely no need for that. The fact is, there are people who are enjoying and benefiting from QuickLinks, and the few of us who have hit snags with it are no worse off than we were before you made it available. I suspect we might be a wee bit jealous of those using it successfully but we certainly have no right to complain

Steve, I haven't had any suggestions regarding other apps, actions, or functions that need to connect with the Logos COM api, but I have kept working toward resolving the error I was getting when trying to install QuickLinks on my XP desktop and VISTA laptop. Here's an update. I was finally able to get QuickLinks to install on my XP desktop machine
-
Sorry, Steve--I didn't mean to make more work for you. I'm wondering...does anyone know of any other apps, actions, or functions that can be initiated from within Logos 4 that require successful connection with the Logos COM api? If so, I'd be glad to give them a try to see if they're able to make the connection on my system.

Yes, Logos4 was running and stable when I clicked on the QuickLinks shortcut to open it. i.e. I start Logos4. It opens to my most recently used layout. I can navigate and perform the normal functions without any trouble, I can go to the home page without any trouble, and I can access internet links from the home page without any trouble. I had previously

Hi, Steve. Thanks for your reply. I started Logos 4, clicked on the L4 QuickLinks shortcut there, and got the error message noted in my first post. I then opened Task Manager and saw the same three QuickLinks and Logos 4 processes that I see in your post: L4 QuickLink.exe, Logos4.exe, and LogosCom.exe . When I close the QuickLinks error message window

I'm also having an install problem--similar to, but not quite the same as the problem posted by David Paul on May 31. I tried without success to insert a copy of the error message window so have retyped the message. It reads as follows: Error: Could NOT establish communications with Logos 4 COM. Unable to cast COM object of type 'Logos4Lib.LogosLauncherClass

Thanks, Mark! I'll add my voice.

Jerry, Thanks for the quick reply and the links! I'll check the links out and give the tool a try.

I know how to link resources such commentaries to bibles, but when a resource is linked, scrolling through it also drives/changes the passage of the open bibles to which the resource is linked. Is there any way to set up resources such as commentaries, so that they will follow along when scrolling through a bible, yet allow me to scroll through the

Thanks for the quick reply, Kevin. Yes--the method in your reply corresponds to the 2nd bullet point option listed at the end of my initial post. I was hoping there was a better way than having to go "click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click" on the down arrow to get to verse 10. I hope the way the left mouse button behaves in this
