  • Re: Which Old Testament laws are for today?

You might try looking at the laws which are for indicated as both for the Jews and the "strangers" or "foreigners among you", The Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 seems to have leveraged this fact that some laws were more inclusive than others. There are detailed discussions of the exegetical work done by the council in R. Bauckham's "James and the Jerusalem

  • Re: Improvements Wishlist for Android App ... post here!

I'd love to see morphological data available offline. I've been reading NA27 on the bus between home and work on my Kindle Fire, and without wi-fi there is no morphological date available. Also, not so much a improvement request as a requested feature, but touch on a tablet just seems to screams sentence diagramming.

  • Re: Exegetical Guide

Ideally I would like to be able to customize what the guide brings in. Perhaps it as simple as using our Word Study Guide default as the template for what gets brought in? Otherwise I say bring everything in. Either way, I agree speed would be an issue. I imagined only the lemma report defaulting to open with everything else defaulting to close. That

  • Re: Exegetical Guide

I think it was I who pointed that out in the discussion. :) You are right though, with the current set up the Word by word guide take a passage whereas the word study guide takes a word so there's no way to combine them. But what the exegetical guide does is essentially take a passage and break it up into seperate words and then pull up the lemma data

  • Re: Exegetical Guide

Martin, are you refering to the Exegetical Guide with its word by word report? Or are you thinking of the Word Study Report? As best as I know the Exegetical guide's word by word report doesn't bring in the tranlation ring from the Word Study report. I would love to see it brought in along with the other features from the Word Study report! In fact

  • Re: For those who use graphics tablets with V4....a few questions...

I've never used my Wacom with Logos. I find it difficult to switch back and forth between keyboard and tablet and so my tablet is reserved for my Photoshop work. Tablets in my experience are horrible for typing. If you're not going to be doing any typing while studying a graphics tablet would most likley be fine, but they do take getting used to. A

  • Re: Possible Bug: Bible searches with Greek or Hebrew

Thanks guys, that helps. I find the 'match all word forms' option in this case to be misleading. I would love to see the older v3 functionality restored. I found it superior in this case.

  • Possible Bug: Bible searches with Greek or Hebrew

I didn't catch this during the beta process and just realized that Logos 4 is no longer returning all relevant forms of a word when you enter in a lexical form for a simple bible search in greek or hebrew. I entered in g:doulos in a simple Bible search and only got doulos in the nominative case instead of like Logos 3 where it returned any form of doulos

  • Re: Greek and Hebrew Text for searching?

There's always Shibboleth http://www.logos.com/downloads . I find it to be the easiest to use when I am constantly switching back and forth between greek, hebrew, and english.

  • Re: Customizing Passage and Exegetical Guides

It's as simple as naming your custom guide "My Passage Guide" or "My Exegetical Guide". Once you do that that guide will be used by Logos 4 as your default.

  • Re: Things you might not have notice

It's documented in the help file, but some may not know that if you customize a guide (i.e. passage guide, exegetical guide, word study guide) and name it "My Passage Guide" or "My Exegetical Guide", or "My Word Study Guide", it becomes the default guide. I have a custom Passage guide, and because I named it "My Study Guide", when click on the go button

  • Re: unneeded resources

MJ., You can grab the library tab and drag it to a panel. That will keep your library open for as long as you want it to.

  • Re: If I upgrade to Platinum, can I transfer my existing Pillar license to someone else?

It's my understanding that the upgrade pricing takes into account what you already have a license for. You wouldn't be paying for a second license for the pillar in other words if you upgraded. I could be wrong though.

  • Re: Greek VERB search in Ephesians

Not quite sure if this is what you are looking for, but you could run an exegetical guide in either version 3 or version on Ephesians 4 and set your properties so that the guide only picks up verbs. It should already display tense voice and mood.
