• Re: Mac Book System Specs Suggestions From the Everyday User

I bought the MacBook that just came out last Thanksgiving (the white MacBook, not the Pro) with Snow Leopard, and it runs L4 for Mac just fine. I did upgrade to 4 GB RAM. Of course the screen is only 13", so it's a bit small, but you could always hook up an external monitor to get more screen space. I also have a 2 year old 20" iMac, and it runs it

  • Commentary References Don't Jump

This bug is for L4 Mac A14. If I have a Bible open (e.g., NASB95), I can type a reference (e.g., 1 Ki 20) in the text box just under the name of that Bible and hit the Return key. The Bible immediately jumps to the reference, which is the behavior I would expect. If I have a commentary open (e.g., Bible Knowledge Commentary, New Bible Commentary, New

  • Re: A15 - Problems with Tabs

Ok, but this "design" leaves me unable to do what I want. Is there a workaround, another way to get where I want to go?

  • A15 - Problems with Tabs

I have a 13" MacBook, so I'm a bit short on screen space. Right now I have two columns, Bibles on the left and commentaries on the right, like so: I decided it would be better to give more space to the commentaries, so I started dragging the Bibles to a "new" column on the left, about 1/3 of the screen instead of 1/2, like so: This worked fine until

  • A16a Bug: Specific text areas no longer available

When I first starting testing specific text areas in search, there was a long list of choices. Now I have 3: Closing and restarting search doesn't help. Quitting and restarting L4 doesn't help. Here's what I think I did: Previously I search once by footnote and then later by author. Today I searched by surface text and then again by clicking in "all

  • A16 Bug: Tab Auto-resizing inconsistent

It seems to me that the auto-resizing of the tabs is still in need of a bit of work. I find that they inexplicably are either so large that some are off the screen or so small that I only see book covers when there's plenty of room for the words. Below is one example. I was reading one commentary, then clicked on the tab of a different commentary (within

  • A16a Bug: Uncopyable Bibliograpy Text

    In the Library window, one can find a book and then click the "i" icon to see some metadata about it. Oddly, this text, including the bibliography info, cannot be selected or copied. I suppose one could argue about whether this is a bug per se, but there doesn't seem to be any reason why this text is uncopyable. Feel free to enlighten me if I'm wrong;

  • Re: PRA's for L4?

PRA's are important to me as well. One way to group them might be with tags.

Very helpful, thank you. Not the answer I was hoping for, but it was the answer to my question. Hopefully they will bring them back. Thanks again.

  • Re: Resource Associations?

Well, I have some prioritized resources now. :-) I'm using L4 via Parallels 3 on my iMac; all the arrow keys appear to work the same way. It's not fast like L3, but it works; looking fwd to L4/Mac getting more stable. Thanks again for your help.

  • Just one highlighter, please

Alpha 8 is looking really stable, thank you, especially compared to earlier alphas. I have only 1 small request: can I have a highlighter, please? I don't need every highlighter and colored pencil and fancy markers. Just one. Any one. You can pick the color! Even an underliner would be just fine. Thank you and keep up the good work!

  • Logos 4 icon in my menu bar -- the new normal?

Just got alpha 8, thank you! In earlier alphas, the Logos 4 icon would appear up on the right side of my menu while the s/w was downloading updates and indexing. Then after a few hours (*cough* or a few days *cough*) it would go away, presumably once indexing was finished. But starting with alpha 7, this icon never went away. Is this icon now a permanent

  • Doh! Are page numbers gone?

I read this post last night: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/6828.aspx and was delighted to realize that not only could I cut and paste, but page numbers were on display for certain books, such as commentaries. I tried it and observed the page numbers in alpha 7. This morning alpha 8 downloads, but now there don't seem to be any page numbers (to

  • How do I learn more about Jezreel?

So I'm studying in 1 Kings 21, and the action takes place in Jezreel. Naturally I'd like to know a bit more about this city. In the dark ages known as paper I'd grab a couple Bible dictionaries, find their entry for Jezreel, and read. In the L4 days, how do I do that? I already have my Bible dictionaries tagged (from the Library), so I can limit my

  • Re: How do I learn more about Jezreel?

Thanks for the great idea, MJ, but unfortunately "Place" does not show up on my contextual menu (nor does "Person"). I suspect it's because I've not upgraded to one of the new L4 packages. Biblical People, Places, and Things (in the tools menu) are all non-functional for me as well.
he Person and Place options only seem to work with Bibles
The context menu varies by translation. Of the half dozen I checked, the ESV had far more contextual options than the others. Which translation was used in the example above?

  • A17 Bug: Search keeps loading...and loading...and loading...

As I'm studying the story of Ahab and Naboth, I decided to search my Bible dictionaries for some more info on the justice of God. Having already tagged them, this is rather easy to do with L4's search. However, after I scrolled down about 20 lines or so, I noticed something interesting: Some items were "loading...", and they perpetually stayed in this
