When I called support, they started asking me questions about if Logos was working correctly or not, and I told her that I was pretty certain it was working just fine, just that it was me who was the problem, and that I just didn't understand how to use the tool correctly, and could she assist me with this problem? Her prompt reply

  • Re: Android search

In my experience, unless you're accessing offline resources the entire app is virtually unusable. It just doesn't work as a cloud dependent app. I have one offline Bible on it which I use for reading, and that's about it. Previously I downloaded several gigabytes of resources for offline reading, but on both occasions they were completely wiped out

I'm delighted to see that the Revelation commentaries are finally going to be published; the email came in today.

  • Re: L4 and L5.....

I am loving L4 more and more. Last year was a sensational year for L4, and I can hardly believe L4.5 has already been released. Thanks for your team's great work Bob. I just want Logos Android dragged up to date. :)
14.) ↓ Classic Commentaries and Studies on Revelation (27 vols.) - 12,448 pgs; Current peak $160! @ ~58% (^1%) ; Good test showing how CP bidding affects progress. High bidding most likely causing new bidders to shy away (as suggested by others here , here , here , & here ). Recommend following new peak at $50 with hope of
I would much rather see Logos concentrate its efforts on getting more academic texts (Brill, Eerdmans) and journals (JSOT, Vetus Testamentum) which would be of more interest across all denominations.
I agree. I would love to see more texts from Brill, as well as texts from the other significant academic publishing houses
I understand that Logos is planning a similar offline Search but I wouldn't know how complex, and I suspect that index data would be loaded with each resource.
Something like that has to happen, because otherwise I have no reason to use Logos Android; I won't use it if it's slower than alternative programs, and I won
I guess one of the problems is "what should be indexed?" Is it a subset of resources, the ones that have been downloaded or something else?
It could be the entire library if the desktop is doing the indexing. If the resources in the index haven't all been downloaded to the device, that wouldn't matter. The mobile
The issue is that a Logos index requires a lot of computer power and space to build, something which a phone/tablet could not handle.
That's why it would be an excellent idea if the index could be compiled on the user's desktop computer in a format readable by the portable device, and transferred.

But basically any program which loads resources from your device's memory is going to be significantly

Excellent, thank you Kevin. I really want to clean up my library by removing a lot of the light reading, devotional literature, and commentaries I never use.

Could I confirm that hidden resources: 1. Are actually removed from your hard drive, thus reducing the size of your Logos library (and index, when you re-index). 2. Are not re-downloaded the next time you sync.
Thanks, Graham, I do use offline resources in Android app. But doing that - downloading by arrow button - one by one is too slow (though I would be more focused in reading with a small set of resources on device).
This is why, with much regret, I stopped using the Logos app for Android. Why not just use virtualization software? Applications such as Virtualbox are free; I use it to run WinXP when necessary (which is almost never).

I can't believe no one has mentioned Milgrom on Leviticus; the standard commentary. Apart from the FOTL volumes, these are my favourites. * Genesis: Sarna, Wenham, Hamilton, Westermann, Walton * Exodus: Sarna, Walton * Leviticus: Milgrom, Walton, Wenham * Numbers: Milgrom, Walton, Wenham * Deuteronomy: Walton, Wenham
