Everything I've searched on the website endorses all that's been said before. It's telling that the blog post mentioned by Daniel has a link to the "2nd ed." ... but that link then takes you to a page for first edition. I've already thought along the same lines as Caleb and ordered the complete set again. Dynamic pricing means that I've paid only for
The iPad isn't supposed to be a replacement for a computer... But it would never replace a computer for me.
I'll second Alabama’s sentiment. I use my iPad regularly, primarily as a portable reading device (and, yes, it can work OK in teaching environments, too). But it's not a desktop, so I'm resigned to using each

Interlinear control is nice. Thanks! When I first updated the app, at least one interlinear resource didn't behave perfectly. After choosing which line(s) I wanted on/off, I had to flick the master 'inline' to off and back to on before the changes would take effect. It was a simple fix ... and now I can't even replicate the issue.

  • Re: Codex Bezae: Thanks!

I, too, have been looking forward to the arrival of this resource. But I'm having trouble navigating it in my iPad app (v3.4.0). If I try to jump to a Bible reference which may not be there, the app shuts down. This occurs whether I swipe (e.g. backwards from Luke 10 or Acts 2) or try to jump there directly from the TOC (either by verse or by content

To further my own question: yes, there's something of a comparison list at http://wiki.logos.com/Upgrade_or_Crossgrade . And there does seem to be the possibility that items running under "Logos 4" don't appear to be supported in "Logos 5 Free". One feature that I'm particularly fond of is Sentence Diagramming. The comparison chart could be read to

I'm still happily using WinXP ( ) so the following query is more academic than urgent. I was just wondering if anyone's compiled a list of any L4 features that might no longer work with the free L5 engine. Or is every L4 tool guaranteed to have an equivalent that exists and is accessible under L5? (I'm hardly a power user, so I don't have a long list
Was anyone else using landscape mode? I never use my iPad that way, so it isn't something that would pop up for me!
I can confirm the same problem. It's been bugging me for a week or two, but simply shifting from landscape (which is my usual orientation) to portrait brings an instant cure. And then the problem resurfaces

  • Re: Defining Search Ranges

Interestingly, I can get a variety of ranges to save, and I'm still running 3.2.4. I've tried a couple of different ranges and titles, offline and online, with and without restarting the app, but all seem to save my sample ranges. Beginner's luck? Benefit of iOS 5?

I'm sitting in an Accordance seminar right now (though I have no intention of jumping ship ). Although it's not perfect either, I'm jealous of what's available for offline searching and studying. I'm particularly impressed that you can do some quite complex searching, such as a key number and a string of logical operators related to the current translation

Jason observed: "There are people willing to pay, but we don't know how many pass because of the price difference." (Sorry; trouble with Quote today! :-)) I'm with those who've managed to resist the near-automatic impulse to preorder. I wonder if Logos might consider some similar to a " would like" button. That way they'd be able to capture some stats

Sorry if I've missed the answer in this lengthy discussion ... but is there any info on why NIB is not listed as running on mobile platforms? If it's a publisher's decision, fair enough. But if it's a Logos decision or, worse, a listing error, perhaps we should set Dan to more arm-twisting ... :-)

  • Re: Scripture Memory App

I flicked through the Logos 5 promo video a few days ago. If I remember correctly, v5 now includes a memorization function. Someone who's upgraded may be able to confirm this for us. A further question will be if/when that feature filters through to a phone/tablet app. But it sounds like our Logos friends appreciate customer concern for it.

I experienced the same hassles as Christopher while reading offline last night. I'd expected to find the current open resource on the quick search pane to the left of my app window. Failing that, I found the main search window, but it didn't consistently include the current resource. I don't expect tablet searching to be anything close to desktop options

Yep. 3.0.3 seems to have fixed the issue. As with Bened, thanks for picking up the disparity in versions. Might this suggest that some resources are version dependent (as some are for desktop versions)?

Running 3.0.2.1396. Haven't updated app (knowingly) or packages for some time. It's just suddenly made life tricky. Other downloaded resources seem to work fine. And I can see my full library, both downloaded and non-downloaded, fine from the app. But it won't open any of the aforementioned Bibles. In addition to killing and restarting the app, I've

I'm intrigued to see if this might be a wider problem. In the last 24 hours, I've lost access to most of the Bibles on my iPad, such as NIV, NRSV, ESV, NLT, NASB. But my HCSB still works. It's possible I was doing an update on these Bibles (they're my most common versions) and lost the wifi connection. But it seems suspicious that Bened has experienced

  • Understanding the Bible Commentary Series: Old Testament

I gather it's been advertised for a while, but I've only just noticed the (rebranded) series on prepub . Part of the new influx of works from Baker? Is there any reason that volume 3 on Leviticus and Numbers (W. H. Bellinger, 2001) is missing from the series?

The product page captures some useful information: This is the rebranded version of the New International Biblical Commentary: New Testament. It contains all the same content. That NIBC series has its own strengths and weaknesses. I'll comment only on the NT series, although there's also an OT series (almost complete in print and, I've just noticed
