  • Re: Pre-pubs affected? FTP needed?

All I know is that when I saw I had the D-R Bible I cancelled my prepub myself.

You will lose nothing. Logos policy is if you buy a book, you have bought the book. Upgrading a collection gets you new books. You keep all the old ones, even if, frankly, it doesn't make much sense. For example, I have BHS Westminster 2.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.2, which is a bit of overkill. The only way your 3.0 setup will be influenced by installing 4

This sounds like the wrong result. The beta thread said that you often have to save the JS file on your computer and run it from there.

Since I don't have the space on my current laptop for my quickly expanding library, I will install it on my Vista machine that has two huge empty hard drives. Do I need to install version 3 to the new machine first? Will I eed to install all the third party (eBible, Fortress

The instructions are in the thread I linked to you, but basically, Logging is turned off by default. Turn it back on using the JS files Logos provides. Then look at the log files they create.

I am also at 2368, but am not having the problem you describe. Is there realy a 2386 out there, or is that an easy typo?

This is not officially supported, but you should be able to do it. Copy the resources to the flash drive like you said. Start the install on the laptop, and then when it says it is DL'ing x GB you can cancel the DL by clicking on the Logos icon on the taskbar. I suppose with as long as it is taking for most new users to update today, you don't have

  • Re: Library Won't update from Logos 3

Almost by definition if you purchased your upgrade, your library will transfer, because as soon as it exists on Logos.com, it will update Logos4. Some users seem to be experience quite a delay (I have heard of leaving Logos4 on for at least 45 minutes) before Logos 4 does all the magic. I do hope this is only a crash first day issue and not what will

  • Re: Endless Downloads

I haven't noticed any DL's myself today. I would recommend turning on logging per: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/2933.aspx to see what's up in the LogosIndexer log. Edit: I just received a short DL of what appears to be resources. It is preparing my library as I type. OK, it was GESENLEX for me... Reindexing...

  • Re: How long to download

During the Beta the DL speeds varied. This sounds slow, but then again, I bet Logos is being slammed at their end today. So, I would not say "normal", but then again I would not be overly concerned, unfortunately. The frustrtating thing is that you have to tell it to countinue with the installation as soon as it is done to go on to the next step.

  • Re: The Cloud

There are serious privacy issues for cloud computing. Anyone on the pipeline from my computer to Logos, and especially both ends are security risks. However, Logos 4 DOES allow the user to use their resources without any internet connectivity at all. Yes, it will not keep itself updated. Yes, it will not keep reading plans synced between computers.

  • Re: Importing Old Content

For most installations, Logos 4 will do this automatically. If you have installed 3.0 someplace unexpected, type "Scan (3 Resource Directory}" in the command bar. For more information, look at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/3193.aspx

  • Re: New Resources

No. At least for now Logos plans on supporting both formats. Of course eventually they will want to transition, but for now they are still supporting Libronix 3. However, some of the new resources from the new collections have not been released in 3.0 yet - their focus is on 4.0. They should eventually come out, but they are pretty busy now.

  • Re: unneeded resources

Now, unfortunately no. In the future, yes. Once you have your library installed, you can hide a resource and it will delete it from your computer and keep it from being installed on any of your computers until you specifically tell it to come back. The thing is that in order to Hide a resource, your setup needs to know about the resource.

  • Re: What is the NEW symbol supposed to show on the upgrade page - is it working?

Not a official Logos answer, but it appears that "New" means that the resource has not been in a Base Collection before. Some have been around for various amount of time, others are items that were still waiting on Pre-pub.

I would go to the horse's mouth on this one: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/3223/24523.aspx#24523 How much it can do without the "controlled vocabulary" I do not know. Logos lets you try this for free, even if they do encourage you to buy more resources. If you are not satisfied with just the engine upgrade because it can't do what you want, then
