• Re: 30,000+ new product pages on logos.com

Granted that there are quibbles that could be made and kinks to be worked out, I think this is at core a great idea. There should be one place where a customer can look for all the books that FaithLife offers on a particular topic.
... I guess the question is whether I'd rather spend $8.99 on something I know I'll value ...
That was my question as well. Postmodern deconstructionism is not an approach that I find particularly valuable. I ended up grabbing the other three, but not the 1st Samuel volume.
To be honest, all the pastors I've ever met wanted to talk daily life, and not get bogged down otherwise. I wonder if graduates kind of shrug seminary off, when pastoring hits them.
It's a catastrophic mistake to engage God with only your head, and not your heart. That doesn't imply that it's a good idea to leave your
I am so happy that after 10 years, a filter has been implemented on the new Logos website...
I am too. Now I wish they would add an "available for purchase" filter so we could filter out items that can't be purchased individually, but are only available as part of another product.

  • Re: Horton vs Bird

Horton's book was the principle textbook for a series of systematic theology classes I took a while back. I found it very helpful. As has been mentioned, it does a good job of explaining theology in the context of the dramatic story of God's creative and redemptive relationship with humanity.
Ronald - The applaud you for taking the time to research it. As teachers/preachers, we lose credibility when we state as fact things which we are unsure about (or worse, which are demonstrably false!).
This is an incredibly important point.
... I was tempted to be super-precise and point out that the historical event is the resurrection of which Easter is an annual celebration.
I actually think that's a very important point. We've been used to having a single, uniform calendar for so long that we've largely forgotten that there are different ways to measure

  • Re: Ante Nicene Fathers?

Everything Ken says about Schaff is absolutely correct. The two advantages are that it is relatively inexpensive, and is included in a number of the base packages. It lets you link to an usable translation of a good bit of patristic material without breaking the bank. I got it years ago as part of a base package. This has helped provide a bit of a door
