Surface pro 3 runs it beautifully. Never any issue with performance and indexing occurs in a fraction of the time as compared to my laptop.
I have the same experience on the i3 sp3.
I just got a Toshiba Encore 2 Write and it's also an Atom with only 2GB of RAM and Logos runs, but just barely. I'm guessing the S3 might perform a little better, but not much.
Agreed. No doubt the atom processor would be quick enough, but the gpu, storage and the memory speed really hold the processor back.
I would like to thank you Greg, for a great review. And I think this is going to be the one for me I've heard about Windows and applications are taking up about 25-30 GB of space, so how does it look like on the surface? Again thanks Ragnheðin
Currently I have 21 GB free on my C drive. I have full Microsoft

Posting this just to help anyone that might be considering the sp3 i3. As I mentioned in a previous post, the i3 surface pro with accessories, only cost me $10 more than the 4 gig surface 3 with the same accessories would cost me in Canada. For that extra $10 I got a bigger screen much faster hard drive, faster processor, better kickstand, etc. (but

I have one on order (should be in this week). I'll let you know what my experience is like with it. I live in Canada so the pricing is different for me, but the I3 surface pro (with keyboard) cost me $10 more than the 4gb Surface 3 would have cost. I figured that 10 dollars for a bigger screen and much better performance was worth it:-)

I had the same problem with crashing note files with betas 6 and 7. If I started from a fresh layout reopened my resources then everything worked again. It might be worth a try until this is fixed.

  • Re: speed issue. What does acceptable performance look like?

With the new Beta, the information tool can be much faster depending on how you set it up. I have tried Logos 4 on 5 different setups - I have tried upgrading ram - went from a dual core to a quad on the desktop - tried a ssd (great for everything else but makes very little difference to L4), and a faster video card. The video card seems to make the

  • Re: This was embarassing....not having a simple answer to a simple question...no timeline..

The problem is that this is not easy to do. (warning I am about to insert some personal opinion). We know from several of the genealogies that there are gaps - in other words you have listed the most significant ancestors, not always all of them. You notice that they are rounded to nice even numbers (life normally isn't that neat:-). It has been a few

  • Re: Logos 4 on a special netbook

I would recommend the Acer AS1410. It is small enough to be very portable (the size is the same as a 8x11 piece of paper), substantially faster than an atom based netbook (about 2-3 times faster with the base U3500 CPU). The graphics card is adequate for rendering - Not great but miles ahead of a netbook (I have a netbook as well so I have directly
Amazing isn't it? I sure wish I knew what makes some computers run L4 so well, and others, newer and with seemingly better spec's work so poorly. We've been pondering this on this since the pre-release beta days. Just for our information, this 5 y/o system was using XP SP3? Or did you upgrade them to Vista or Win7? (BTW

  • Some interesting performance info.

I recently updated my parents nelson eBible to V4 on their five year old computer. V4 was unusable. There was approximately a 15 second delay between any commands and the programs response (switching tabs, etc.). Also the display was horrible - the icons were all messed up, etc. I knew the system would be slow - but it benchmarks out to be about the

I have been reporting issues with this since the Private Beta. It has been confirmed as a bug in this recent thread. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8970.aspx I hope we see this fixed in the near future - I really like the BWS, but this bug can make it quite frustrating to work with.

  • Re: 4.0b Beta 3: (Performance) Very slow boot: 45 seconds on a fast machine

My start up time is near double what it was for 4a (plus a wait time for parallel resources to load). 4a was 22 seconds. 4b is 22 seconds until I can see my layout, but then another 18 seconds until the little spinning wheel goes away and the program will respond to any commands. Also, on my system it is almost another 25 seconds before all of my parallel

  • BUG - BWS for θεός makes logos unresponsive

This bug applies to other words (especially words used over 200 times). If I do a BWS for θεός and then click on the blue part of the circle it its usual amount of time to display the results (too long in my opinion) Then when you click on the circle the second time to hide the results. The listed verses should instantly be gone (although this has never

  • GUI idea for parallel resources

One of the things that bothered me most about L4 when I first started the Beta was how everything important seemed to be grayed out. Things like scroll bars, little arrows etc. The GUI seemed very empty. I've come to really appreciate this laid back GUI. it is very uncluttered and I find now if I use L3 or any other bible software it is very "busy"
