• Re: Slow

Logos 4 is the slowest program on both my laptop and desktop - far slower than any of Adobe CS4 stuff (photoshop, flash, illustrator etc.) that used to hold that record on my machine.

Thanks for the Wiki update Steve - now if the cursor would just keep up with my typing in notes...
Its supposed to recognize them automatically as you type them in.
Phillip these are notes that I have imported from 3. I will try the copy paste - it's a lot of notes!

  • Reference taggin in notes - How?

In Logos 3 notes there was the wonderful button - "tag references as hyperlinks" I could automatically tag any scripture refs that were in correct format (book, chapter, verse). Is there a workaround for this in 4 that I have not found? I know I can highlight the text in a note then add the ref. by hand - tedious for hundreds of refs. Thanks

  • Re: Where are my note files?

I used note files extensively with Logos 3 - my sermons, much of my research, all my Inductive study work were in notes. The convenience and speed were great. I use notes in 4 just as extensively, but without the speed and ease. I do the final draft of messages in Word, but all my reasearch still is in notes, and it is painful and difficult. The lag
Click on the tab for your Search window Click on Save as Passage List. It will create the Passage List in a new panel.
That's what I was looking for - thanks a bunch!

  • Passage list from search results

Is it possible to create a passage list from the results of a search? Or preferably from part of the results of a search?

Thanks again Kevin - the forum has made the transition to Logos 4 possible for me.

Thanks Kevin - I assume (nearly always a mistake for me) that the list still shows but the boxes are not checked?

  • Adjusting visual filter settings

Whenever I open a new resource visual filters are checked for all my note files - I believe I have been told that unchecking these may speed things up a bit for Logos 4 Is there any way to have them unchecked by default? It is a bit of a pain to go through the unchecking process manually each time I open a resource. Thanks.

  • Re: Would this laptop solve my Logos 4.0 problems?

Thank you all for the input. Two lines from all your responses have given me pause in my consderation of a new machine: From Richard: As far as typing in notes, experience varies widely, and it doesn't seem exclusively related to hardware From Dave: There is no guarantee about a cure for lag or response time in L4! I have optimized my present laptop

  • Re: Would this laptop solve my Logos 4.0 problems?

Thanks Richard - The notes lag is my biggest headache - it seems erratic - occasionally keeping up with my typing but usually 1 or more seconds behind which is disconcerting as I watch the screen as i type.

  • Re: Would this laptop solve my Logos 4.0 problems?

My biggest issues with 4 at this point are the lag when typing in notes (which I use all the time), Slow response of the info pane, delay when using some resources (Pulpit Commentary for instance) The cost of the Toshiba is $1019.00

  • Pulpit commentary slows things to a crawl.

When I open the Pulpit Commentary (Galatians at the moment) Logos seems to slow to a snails pace - swithing between resources, note typing, everything slows down considerably. I have not noticed this with other resources I have used. Any idea what's up, or do I junk this resource that I was looking forward to using? thanks for the help.

  • Re: How do I copy a note from one note file to another

Wheee! this drag and drop in a different note file works great for what i was after. For those who have not used this be sure to grab the note from below the heading to be sure you get the right note. Thanks to both you for the help. Now if only the display could keep up with my typing in notes....
