  • iPod Offline Mode: Error Loading Book

I get the message: Error Loading Book Logos could note load the specified book. OK When I try to read the MacArthur Study Bible in offline mode (either no WiFi or Airplane mode). Yes, I've downloaded the book. Yes, I was able to read the book in offline mode before version 1.4.2 Yes, the MacArthur Study Bible appears in my "Recent Books" list (but not

  • Offline Resource: Unable to download resource LLS:40.170.11

I keep getting this error. I've downloaded the latest iPod app version, restarted my wireless network, restarted my iPod Touch. The error occurs as soon as I try to download "Reckless Faith..." by John MacArthur. Each time I start the app, it tells me I need to update this resource. Perhaps 5 seconds into the update, I get the "Offline resource: Unable

  • Quick "Jump To Passage" button

I frequently find that as I study my favorite Bible passage, I want to look at several commentaries. A great way to accomplish this is by controlling the Link Set. However, not all commentaries are created alike. I may be studying Genesis 4:1-5, for example. When I look at one commentary, it has notes on each verse. When I click the tab for the next

  • Re: Offline Resource: Unable to download resource LLS:40.170.11

This afternoon I upgraded to the latest version of the iPhone app. I can now update all resources (and I did not have to delete and reinstall... which is such a bother, and which I've had to do in the past.). I do wish that Logos staff had addressed this issue directly rather than let us sit and grow frustrated with the non-functioning update feature

  • Bible Notation (e.g., What does Gen 13:7b mean?)

I can't seem to find a good rule for the meaning of letters at the end of a Bible verse reference. Can anyone point me to a guide, or explain this specific example? I made up the Gen 13:7b reference, but I see this format all the time. I used to think it meant "the second sentence" but that rule is violated frequently. I just don't get it. Thanks, Steve

  • Re: Logos 4 Bible Search Loses To Google? Really? A secular engine works best?

Here is one... I was hoping to find the passage where we are told we are not longer strangers and aliens. I searched Logos, in a Collection I defined with only Bibles (I have 25 Bibles in this Collection). I get a list of passages (teasingly close with Eph 2:1 at the top), but nothing that immediately struck me as "that's it!" I search Google, and Eph

  • Re: Logos 4 Bible Search Loses To Google? Really? A secular engine works best?

Thanks to all who have jumped in to help explain the results (or lack of) that I have experienced. I have discovered several things. 1) You can do a BIBLE Search (why had I not seen that option on the search panel before???) Doh! 2) You can use search criteria such as "WITHIN 4 WORDS". How you discover this stuff is a mystery to me. 3) When doing a

  • Resources Close With "Show home page at startup" Checked

I don't know if this has been reported, and I'm not even certain this is the problem, but I strongly suspect it. Many time I have opened and closed Logos 4 and it maintained the resources I had opened, from session to session. Recently I decided that I wanted to check my reading plan each startup, so I clicked "Show home page at startup", something

Jack, Thanks for the reply. I took a look at the Layouts dropdown, but I don't see how to save a Layout. If you can enlighten me, I would appreciate it (remember, I am using the Mac version). Regards, Steve

  • A Couple Hangs

Last night, and again today, L4 A14 has created a very colorful spinning beach ball. While I appreciate the dazzling color and eye catching motion, it does not help my preparation for teaching this Sunday :-) Seriously, last night I was copying text from Nelson's Dictionary (I can't recall which one) when this happened. This morning I was simply trying

  • Re: A15 Hangs On Exit (So Did A14)

I don't know what "Cited by Open" is, or how to set it. I guess I need to read the help files. However, my problem is not that the program hangs when I close a window. The problem I have is that the program hangs when I attempt to Quit. All of the open windows do disappear, but the program remains an active task and the only way to get rid of it is

  • How To Drag or Organize Tabs On A Mac L4 Window?

I have a number of resources open in one window. I would like to reorder the tabs so that my commentaries are immediately beside my NASB95. I just can't figure out how to accomplish this. My brain tells me I should be able to click and hold (i.e., grab) a tab and drag it left or right to place it in my preferred location (like Firefox tabs). However

  • Re: How To Drag or Organize Tabs On A Mac L4 Window?

I wish I could post a video of what happens, because there is absolutely no way possible for me to "drag into the center of the tab panel that you wish to move" to move a tab to the left or right. Every time I try to move a tab (unless I drag it up above the open window) the resource opens in a new panel within the window. The only way to get the tab

  • A Couple Features I Would Like To See In L4

    1) A "Store" Browser so that I can search for resources, read about available resources, and purchase them from within L4 (like I can with music, video, etc., in iTunes). 2) An automatically updated "Recently Purchased" Collection so that I can check to see if that new resource I purchased has been downloaded and Indexed yet. Oh, also so that I can

Here's an update. I deleted my Logging folder, after posting the above note about constant Hangs. The very next time I Quit, the program did so immediately. No hang. Hmm. Steve

  • Re: FAQs

I am downloading the update from your link. Thanks. And now... stupid questions time ;-) After I knew that Alpha 6 was available, I launched L4Mac A5. I sat and watched it. Nothing happened. Should I have waited some amount of time? Should there be a menu item to check for updates? Am I just too anxious for the next release of the amazing alpha? Regards

  • Reading Plan Updates between Windows/iPhone App?

Hello, Initially my iPhone App seemed to be creating a new Bible Reading Plan every time I used it (I think it kept trying to create a new ESV version of the reading plan even though I set my Windows L4 reading plan to NASB95... but this is a wild guess). Tonight I got back onto our Windows machine (I'm a Mac guy, but L4 on Windows is the only way I
