  • Re: Search for Words Repeated Three Times - "emphatic Semitic triplet"

I though this topic needed another David to chime in. Thanks for sharing all of this. Is there a way to search for thrice repeated phrases like Jer 7:4 הֵיכַל יְהוָה הֵיכַל יְהוָה הֵיכַל יְהוָה and 2 Sam 19:1 [Eng. 18:33]? בְּנִי אַבְשָׁלוֹם בְּנִי בְנִי אַבְשָׁלוֹם I don't believe these are instances of epizeuxis technically, but I'd think any discussion

You're right; they're not the same size. But the size doesn't fix the problem.

  • NA27 Line Spacing

Since updating to Logos 6 the line spacing for NA27 has become incredible tight and cannot be "loosened." If I adjust the line spacing in the preferences the other windows adjust but not NA27. Any suggestions? See the attached images contrasting SBLGT with NA27 on the right.

  • Re: How do I search for Verba Geminata?

I thought I'd resurrect this thread. Has anyone had any success searching for inflected geminate roots? I'm having the same problem David Knoll had: it seems like Logos ignores any further morphological information I place after " lemma:/.(.)\1/@v" For example, "lemma:/.(.)\1/@Vc" should find only hiphils, but it gives me all geminate verbs.

  • Re: Hebrew Spacing with maqqeph

Hmm, I'm working on Word 2011. According to a quick search around the interweb MS Word does not support RtoL text. Here's hoping to Mac Word 2014. Mellel is too meh for my taste. I suppose this isn't the right forum to complain about Microsoft products!

PS. Jack, you use Hebrew in MS word on a Mac... and it doesn't act like it's demon possessed?! What is your secret?

  • Re: Hebrew Spacing with maqqeph

I'm working with Logos 5.2 SR-6. You're right, the problem is the font SBLBibLit. I'm sure someone wrote on this elsewhere but I couldn't find it—is there a way to add different fonts? I have numerous Heb fonts, including Ezra SIL, but I only have two options (see below). Too bad with SBLBibLit, the spacing with SBL is huge even with "tight" line spacing

  • Hebrew Spacing with maqqeph

It looks like the maqqeph is causing problems with the spacing of Hebrew characters (in BHS SESB 2.0 and BHW 4.18 on OSX). The example below is from Jer 48:22. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Excuse my error in not logging. I Yes, sorting and scrolling in Analysis view. It's even crashed after entering the search. I am using BHS 4.18, so I believe vp is correct (I want to be sure to distinguish Piels with Poels, Polels, etc.). There should be 4 or 5 crashes in this report... 4278.LogosLogs.davidsobey.20140223-074302.zip

OSX 1.7Ghz; 4GB Ram; running Logos 5.2 SR-6 The search yields the results most of the time; so I'd say that's alright. However, if I try to look at the results, e.g., sort the results by lemma or even scroll down sometimes, Logos crashes (=not so great). The search seemed to work a little better after reinstalling Logos, but I still cannot The next

I spoke too soon. The search works alright, Logos does not like it. It's crashed about a dozen times when I try to sort through the results. Ugh! Hmm... do I reinstall Logos and reindex another time tonight?

Thanks for the replies. That worked. Another problem was I added a space between "lemma:" and what followed. Thanks for your help!

  • How to use wildcards with Hebrew

Does anyone have any recommendations for how to search for Hebrew forms using wildcards? For example, if I want to find all of the middle waw forms in the Piel. I searched ?ו?@Vb and... I received all roots with a middle waw. I'm guessing the RtoL text might have something to do with it... Am I missing something? Thanks

  • Re: hireq misplacement in yerushalayim in Lexham Hebrew-English Interlinear

That's not a typo. ירשׁלם is the alternate spelling with a "defective" pathach (or qamets )- hiriq diphthong. It is a Qere perpetuum --one reads ירשׂלים every time she sees it (just like the other qere perpetuum- אדני for יהוה). The hiriq should be (anomalously) under the mem (see print editions). The Aleppo codex has the same: http://www.aleppocodex

  • Re: New Shibboleth Update

Shibboleth is great. I am very grateful for an awesome FREE program. Thanks, Logos! Yet, with this in mind I make a few wishes: 1) Only the Tiberian Vowel system is used with both Aramaic and Hebrew. It would be awesome if Shibboleth added the Babylonian supralinear system. (1b. Let's be honest. "Hebrew" is just the Aramaic block script. It would be

  • Syriac Final Forms

Is anyone else having problems with their Syriac scripts not properly displaying consonants? It seems like when a consonant that has a final form is followed by a vowel it displays the letter like its final form even if it is NOT the final form. I only experience the problem in the Peshitta NT.

It looks like the ISV will also include the Apocrypha according to ISV's website. Would this also be included when it is finished?
