Mitchell is referring to the Old Testament Books Timeline which shipped with Logos 4. That Timeline is also sourced from other books, but can't be 'edited' by hiding

Denise, I don't want this to turn into an argument over the evidence for dating Job. But to your points, the critical consensus is about when the book of Job in the form we have was written , not when it's set . Precise dating of Job is extraordinarily difficult, but a date as early as 2000 BC is difficult to defend because the Hebrew language didn

  • Lack of Critical Sources in Timelines

I was looking today for some quick timeline information on OT authorship, so I pulled up the Old Testament Books Timeline tool for the first time. I must say, I was quite disappointed with what I found. The three sources used in the Timeline tool all placed Job as the first book written in the Bible—two of them placed it as early as 2100 BC! Now, this

  • Re: NET Bible- Morphology

I'll add my voice as a strong second for this. In my opinion, the next bibles in line for morph tagging and RI functionality should be the NET and the CEB. Besides these being two of my personal favorite translations, I've also noticed both rapidly gaining acceptance and use in academic works and in churches.

  • Re: Urgent Information Needed

At the risk of complicating the conversation, it's worth making a distinction between OS X's Fusion Drive feature and the hybrid drives available from, for example, Seagate. Hybrid drives include a small amount of solid-state memory (something on the order of 8 GB) as a cache to speed up only the most frequently accessed files. That's pretty much only

  • November's Free Book Deal, Plus a Hidden Bonus!

I was excited enough to see the first two volumes of the Hermeneia commentary on Matthew advertised as the free and $1.99 deals for November! It's always nice when a serious and recent critical commentary shows up (I'm still kicking myself for missing Brevard Childs' Exodus commentary). But it gets even better! Ulrich's commentary is a three-volume

Thanks Tom, that comparison is very helpful. Both translations have a distinct 19th century feel to them, but I'd say the Roberts/Donaldson version is more readable.

Uservoice link: https://logosmobile.uservoice.com/forums/190765-logos-mobile-apps/suggestions/8300190-disable-auto-correct-in-the-enter-reference-box This ought to be a simple one to implement, and it would make a huge difference in usability.

  • Re: Do you want every ebook in the world in Logos?

I wonder if it would be possible to put the bulk book distribution in some sort of a ghetto. Could you license the whole catalog, create a new site (apart from Noet or Vyrso) to distribute the whole catalog, and just avoid publicizing or marketing that site? It could be a very basic, no frills site. Then the title that Logos actually wants to promote

  • Re: Can "Copy Bible Verses" output to HTML or Markdown?

Interesting, your list is much longer than mine. I don't even have HTML Editor as an option, nor "other"! Is this a Mac/Windows thing? I'm on a OS X. Based on the syntax used for making custom templates, I wouldn't be surprised if the tool actually generates HTML and then parses it to come up with the various output options. So it should be fairly simple

  • Can "Copy Bible Verses" output to HTML or Markdown?

Logos has the potential to be great for copy/pasting scripture passages into forums, blogs, and websites, but so far as I can tell there's no way to get the "Copy Bible Verses" tool to give me raw HTML or Markdown. This would be a wonderful feature (and pretty easy to implement too!) for anyone who regularly participates in online theological discussions

The academic discount on the Socio-Rhetorical Commentary series is astonishingly good. Almost 50% off of the bundle, and individual volumes vary but are discounted by up to 73%! I have a few volumes and I've found them to be very helpful companions to the more traditional commentaries.

  • Re: Quality and Update Cycles Beyond Logos 6

I like the sound of this. I'm very glad you realize that the subscription model will only appeal to a subset of users, that's very comforting. Something that hasn't yet been mentioned: a subscription model that regularly rolls out new features, all of which are occasionally bundled up and sold as an upgrade, would probably keep the quality complaints
