• Re: Any Fruchtenbaum lovers out there?

An easy way to work with this: if you want to start a conversation with someone or more people on a topic arising in forums: 1) Create a "topic of interest" group on faithlife.com (choose private or public as you wish). 2) Invite any faithlife member you wish. If they accept and join, the conversation is on!
It could have a double application in some sense, like some scholars suggest for Isaiah 7:14 about the child born from a virgin. DAL
The reason we know that Isaiah 7:14 or the reference to the son of David in 2 Sam 7:12-13 have a double sense is because the NT says so. Otherwise we can find double senses wherever there are

If you'd like me to answer your question, best you contact me by pm, since we are not supposed to engage in such conversations here. Same goes for DAL's sensus plenior objection, which is a common yet not applicable one in

If this advocates the popular but badly erroneous view that Ezekiel 28 speaks about the demise of Satan, I am not interested.

  • Re: Tips for Character Studies?

The suggestion I would make is to be careful not to impress on the stories a significance they were not intended to have. So the first question on Moses, for instance, would be "why is the story told?" What role does his character play in the entire narrative in view of its overarching purpose? A couple things to keep in mind: (1) Unlike Greco-Roman

Thank you very much. Does the introduction of the work specify whether the references were intended to be exhaustive (at the time)?

Got them already as well but happy for those who don't. That's a great freebie.

I don't think the coupon would work for non-subscribers. Say, do you mind posting a screenshoot of the dictionary of biography and mythology please? I'd like to see what it looks like (as compared to the scanned pages samples provided on the product page).

  • Re: Inserting a Logos footnote WITHOUT a direct quote

If all you want is the bibliographic information (with the appropriate page number), just cut and paste a word to get that, and then replace it with your paraphrase or add it to an already existing paraphrase, ditch the word and keep the footnote.

  • Thanks for the NICOT/NICNT sale

I have not been able to take advantage of it myself but remember how frequently it has been requested by users in the past. So thanks FL for offering deep discounts on this popular series.

  • Re: FL: Do Loeb Collections have dynamic pricing?

Hi Jordan, as indicated in the previous thread, I downloaded the English volumes of Halicarnassus' histories. Subsequently the collection that includes the Greek volumes was indeed discounted by half. So dynamic pricing applies. In any case, you could return a book if you find out that somehow the discount does not apply to you, but that would be surprising

  • Re: Connect Loeb volumes: what's the deal?

No, you are right. For some reason, I wrongly remembered that the English text was tagged to the original. That must be cuz I have some morph-tagged Greek litt (Philo and Josephus). All is well. Thanks.

I bought Halicarnassus' histories in English and can confirm that I can now see a dynamic pricing discount of the full collection on logos.com that includes the Greek.

  • Connect Loeb volume: what's the deal?

I was (pleasantly) surprised to find what appears to be Loeb volumes in the offerings of Faithlife Classics: https://ebooks.faithlife.com/search?filters=publisher-3452_Publisher It would appear that these are only the English translations without the companion original language volumes. Now I know there is quite a bit of difference of quality between

I can confirm that with 8.4, having opted to open a reference in my preferred Bible rather than in a study layout, this is now the default for all Bible references. Thank you for this helpful change.
