• Systematic Theology For Laymen

I'm a layman interested in reading about Systematic Theology to combine with my reading on hermeneutics (Grasping God's Word). Wayne Grudem's work has been recommended by many, but it is also my understanding that this generally a good book for those coming from a Reformed perspective. How would you compare this to Michael Horton's more recent work

  • Re: Logos for a layman

I'm chiming in as another layperson who has found Logos immensely useful and certainly worth the price of admission. The usefulness of having a resource with Logos tagging is not just marketing hype as I've found in my own experience. I've owned books in Kindle and OliveTree over the years and repurchased them in Logos. It's not just for the sake of

You need to hit the small arrow next to "Bible text only" to show the other options. See the red box I've drawn below. Edit: I think I misread your full question. What base package do you have? I think the other missing options may be related to that.

  • Re: Looking for a chart on theological views
Have you looked in House's Charts of Christian Theology & Doctrine ?
I haven't heard of his charts before. This may be what I'm looking for. Are these charts available in Logos? I did a quick search and didn't find it.
I don't know about the other theological traditions, but the chart does not accurately reflect the Roman Catholic teachings. This chart is more accurate for Roman Catholicism - http://www.religionfacts.com/denominations-beliefs . I do not know about its overall accuracy for other traditions. Agape, Steve
Thanks

  • Looking for a chart on theological views

Anyone have a good chart on the spectrum of theological positions? The one below is the best I've found so far. I'm looking for a good overview chart to use as a starting point and a high level overview of the most important topics/distinctions between the various views.

  • Re: Organize Highlighting - by translation or by book or other method?

Option 1: Use separate palettes for each translation. Any downside in the note file getting too large even though it's for each translation (by resource option). Right now I mainly highlight in ESV and sometimes in NIV. I have NASB and NKJV open for parallel reading as well. So I'm not sure if this

  • Organize Highlighting - by translation or by book or other method?

I'm approaching a year of using Logos and have run across an issue that I didn't know was an issue until today. Organizing highlights in notes files. I didn't realize that Logos puts all the highlights into a single file by default. I created a highlighting palette with shortcut keys that I really like using. Unfortunately I've been using this palette

After years of buying stuff through community pricing without a bass package, I finally took the plunge this year. I knew I wanted to use Logos for a long time, but didn't have the funds to commit to a base package. Although I had spent quite a bit of money over the years on classic commentaries and such through community pricing. By the time I got

The primary focus of the mentorship is growing in spiritual disciples and learning how to mature as a Christian and teach others the basics of daily

Thanks Cynthia for posting about this deal. $69 is a good value to me regardless of what motivation the publisher may have with their "normal" pricing and discounting practices. I do not know enough about then to make any judgements about their motives. What I see is a good deal. This price is cheaper than the 2 other platforms I have access to and

I would be interested in seeing your new plan. I'm about to go through a mentorship process and I'm trying to collect my thoughts to put together what you've described. Being a novice, I appreciate all the help I can get through this forum and elsewhere so I don't have to reinvent the wheel.
