I noticed that the descriptions of the two books included in the recent "Daniel" PrePub are switched. I noticed something else...the total page count of the two books... ... 666 . Coincidence? I think not.

  • Re: Notes Compromise idea

I've written on this before in other threads, but since it is a HUGE ISSUE, I don't mind doing it again. Notes isn't just important , it is AS IMPORTANT as the whiz-bang search capabilities that Logos has. In fact, I don't use L4 and its better searching function at all (less than 1%) because of its anemic notes functionality and a number of other issues

  • Re: Still using L3? Prefer L3?

Certainly, MJ, my fervent hope is that enough forthcoming changes will tip my attitude toward L4, at least to the point that I am making significant use of it, even if I never adopt it completely. I think it clearly won't ever adopt all of my desires--Bob as much as said so...though I suppose things can change. I am thus cautiously optimistic...or maybe

  • Still using L3? Prefer L3?

Just curious... Anyone out there who is finding it hard or even impossible to bring themselves to adopt L4? I am using L3 about 99+% of the time. I open L4 every once in a while, but I usually regret doing so because it just reminds me of what it's not. Not just that's it's not L3...but that it lost so much of what I love (i.e. use) about L3. In fact

It wasn't my first purchase, but I remember taking the leap and dropping what at the time I thought was HUGE BUCK$ (the 90's were a quaint time, yes?) on the Scholar's pack that had the cool Bible bookshelf tie (circled in blue). I loved that tie...got a lot of complements on it back in the suit and tie days of church. I haven't seen that tie in years

  • Re: POLL: Would you buy the Zondervan Bible Reference Collection for $.....

I see a bit of improvement in this price drop, but not enough to affect my decision--it's still a bit steep in my view. What they are asking now is in the ball park of what I paid to upgrade to Portfolio (more actually), and I got hundreds of new titles in that. It isn't that I think the books themselves aren't worth what they are asking...theoretically

  • Re: how long do you study,

Depending on the vagaries of life, I spend about 6-14 hours in Logos per day...8-10 is about standard, I guess. I'm writing a book, so it gives me an excuse to do what I enjoy most...be in the Word. As far as "collections" go, I'm still using L3 99+% of the time...Notes (or lack thereof), slowness (on a system with a 5.1 Windows rating), and a host
Personally I think the only ones who lose in this new model are the old guard publishing houses that don't react quickly thus letting the upstarts get a significant head start. I have spoken on this topic elsewhere, but old threads become stale threads, so I will briefly repeat. I understand the worry associated with digital resources and the way they can be abused. I also feel that EULA's can return the favor by being almost obscenely abusive and restrictive. I think it is bordering on criminal that I have spent multiple

  • Another Observation

Ever notice the tag cloud there on the right? The three largest tags should perhaps give Logos a bit of a pause for reflection, if not an outright jolt: bug Logos 4 Notes Random coincidence? I think not. Whether it is or not, it should "bug" all of us that bug has such a prominent and conspicuous place in the cloud. Take Notes , Logos , 4 the "collective

Today we made a massive investment in @ Logos ' future;
Did anyone actually read what he said? They are investing in @Logos, the Logos Twitter name/presence. My guess is that they're investing more time into tweeting as a platform for promoting Logos and announcing Logos information. IMHO

Basically Bob told me that what I want just isn't going to happen. Maybe that will change--if my hometown team the Saints can win the Superbowl, I suppose nearly anything is possible. But we will probably have to riot to get it on the drawing board. I know that I OFTEN have people ask me about the

  • Baker & Zondervan tidbit...

At the time I post this there are 11,898 reads of the Zondervan discussion and 9,805 reads of the Baker discussion. I think it's safe to say there is a great deal of interest in these two publishers and their offerings...and likewise I think it's safe to say a fair deal of disappointment. I hear the arguments that Bob makes about the state of the publishing

I also feel that the notes aspect of L3/L4 is nearly as important as the search function that it is so superlative at performing. In fact, I am currently writing a book and I am essentially composing a great deal of it using the notes function of L3. I have been a detractor of L4 generally because, of the 10-20 things that are most important to the

  • Re: Change fonts in Notes

The thing I would most like to see that is new to notes compared to L3 would be an UNDO function. The current notes in L3 (which I am still using daily) don't have this function, and if something is accidentally erased...it's just a long gone pecawn. That can be and has been disastrous. I don't know exactly how it happens but sometimes a highlighted

  • Niggling issue

I realize it's not the biggest deal in the world, but it is persistent and irksome none the less. When I close L4 and then reopen it, the contents panel always reverts back to being about 2 inches wide. True, all I have to do is slide it over to the 1/2 to 3/4 in. width I prefer, but I shouldn't have to do that. Wherever I set it is where it should
