• Re: When was first Gospel written and what was it?
While reading your lenghty post, I made notes of several incorrect statements and logical errors. I had intended to respond to it until I got to this portion, which caused to me question whether or not it is worth it. I quoted a portion of the text and supplied an ellipsis for the sake of brevity. Now I am being accused of dishonesty
If Black would happen to be wrong on one point or another, it does not invalidate his entire thesis. If you disagree with his reconstruction of Peters preaching which was essentially the creation of Mark, that does not prove a Markan priority.
No, if he is wrong on this, then he hasn't accounted for the obvious textual interdepedence
Yes, isnt it amazing how he completely ignored every church father or historian that taught "Q" theory You single out miniscule issues and ignore the large ones. If you want to deny that Peter taught in Rome it still does nothing to advance your theory. "Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those

I take the view that Q is Papias' Aramaic Matthew. Judging from the tone of your post, I have my doubts that you have carefully weighed up all sides. I thought Black's book was inconsistent and implausible.
The interesting thing about Blacks view is that it is really just a restating of what the early

When and if Q turns up, perhaps then my opinion will change.
Exactly. The fictitious Q theory along with markan priority is .... well .... a load of garbage. Let me clear this up for everyone if I may. Amazingly difficult as it might be for certain unbelieving "SCHOLARS" to believe, Matthew really

Robert ... sure you don't want to edit that last paragraph?
Not really. As I said we have some fragments that may be older. I was thinking of the AD68 fragments of John. I was unaware of the Qumran fragment, which is older. The 7Q5 fragment is evidence that two verses of Mark existed no later

What do you mean "we don't know"? I was there. Remember that I'm almost 39.
Oh, Ancient of Days, my error. I should have known. Will not happen again - at least not today.
I must admit, I get a bit annoyed when I hear that we 'can't know' :) It seems to reflect a modern lack
I am reading Many Infallible Proofs by Pierson and he states: The exact year of the production of each of the four gospels cannot be fixed. But the most careful and scholarly modern criticism puts the date of St. Matthew’s record at about 38 A. D., and his record of this prophecy is the fullest, as well as the first. Mark

  • Re: I miss the Logos Christmas Credit from last year

I'd probably make some major purchases if Christmas credit returns; otherwise, well, I've looked at the packages on offer and there's not really anything I have a burning need for. I will just save my money this year.

  • Need to Reinstall

Forgive my computer ignorance, but Logos 5 crashed and would not start up again on my netbook. I uninstalled it, and now need to reinstall. Do I need to reinstall Logos 4 first, and then install Logos 5 over that, or is there a way of directly installing Logos 5 back on my computer? Any suggestions?

  • Re: Crossgrade won't download

I haven't rebooted. I just found a way though--I went to orders, clicked Logos 5 cross grade, and it said I could purchase it for $0.00. I took it through the cart again and then received the download link.

  • Crossgrade won't download

I downloaded it on my laptop no problem, but my desktop downloaded the additional books that come with the crossgrade, but not Logos 5 itself. Anyone know what I need to do?

Are notes, highlighting, favorites etc imported into Logos 5? If not, it would be good to be prepared.
I find it strange that people talk about "moving down" when they are actually not losing any resources, and in reality gaining some. You still have the same package, no matter what they call it. Is this just an ego thing? As my ole pappy used to say, "It doesn't matter what name is on an empty bottle. It only matters what
The Platinum Upgrade isn't what you have to get; the new Platinum happens to be a very different collection than the current Platinum, so that's the cost of the different resources. Logos is offering both upgrades and downgrades between all packages.
Your post illustrates the kind of polemical tone that is troubling me: referring
