  • Feature Request - Some development focus on touch interfaces on win32 platforms...

I generally use Logos/Android or Logos/IOS instead of the full desktop app on win32 or Mac and have been happy with how the touch interfaces on small devices have evolved over the last couple of years. During the same time, hardware has also evolved considerably; I recently picked up a Dell Venue 8 64gig windows 8.1 8" tablet for ~$300 bucks (32gig

my last computer upgrade was from a 17" macbook pro to a maxed out current generation macbook air.... Logos runs just fine on the air.. and you can pry the air from my cold dead hands. :-) Best laptop I've ever owned.

  • Re: Why is Logos 4 Mac so slow to respond?

My experience: Logos for Mac has always sat on the "barely useful" edge of responsiveness. I think we are experiencing the trade-off associated with platform independent frameworks. Don't get me wrong, it isn't unusable, but it isn't snappy - and that's independent of what hardware I throw under it. With equivalent hardware running Windows/Logos and

  • Re: CLI access to Logos books/databases? :-)

Darn - that's close - couple of quick tests and it almost gets me what I was looking for.... It looks like there is a licensing issue that doesn't allow all of _my_ content to be viewed even with a key created under my name (another thread on the API forum suggests only public domain/logos-developed bibles are available via the webservice). +1 for cli

  • CLI access to Logos books/databases? :-)

I'm envisioning something like... $ logos search nlt 'phil 1:9-11' (9) I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. (10) For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. (11) May you always be filled

  • Re: Optimal memory for Mac Power Book Pro???

General geek-guy response: more is better. Get 8 - Apple's pricing isn't even terrible for it anymore.... High level: memory is much faster than your hard drive. MacOS is somewhat aggressive with something called "swapping". i.e., taking stuff that is in memory for actively running programs and putting it on disk while the program isn't being actively

Unfortunately the FAQ seems woefully outdated (~2009?). Ah well, who am I to complain about "free". :-)

  • iPad Roadmap? Next revision?

Logos, I'm quite happy with Logos on my iphone, but on the iPad my expectations of the user experience are much higher. Are we going to end up with something that is similar to what Biblia tries to accomplish in a native app? I'd like to be able to readily browse at least two linked resources when in horizontal mode... Something closer to the desktop

  • Re: Biblia on iPad

I just spent the last 5 minutes trying to reply to this thread from my iPad... but alas the widget for text entry won't work with Safari on ipad... ANYWAY. Yes, using TWO fingers one can scroll inside the "app" instead of scrolling safari itself. One shouldn't have to perform any diagonal motions.... -jbl

In my case, logos would crash when opening pre-existing layouts. I used 'rebuild index' to completely rebuild the index and then my pre-existing layouts started working again.... just a thought. -jbl

The layout in question is 'Proverbs' in the pulldown. ... ah, it's an sqlite3 database... attached the record in question below.. If you still need the whole file, let me know. --snip-- sqlite> select * from layouts where Title="Proverbs" ...> ; LayoutId|Title|CreatedDate|Thumbnail|Xml|SyncId|SyncState|SyncDate|IsDeleted 13|Proverbs|2010-03-12T23:42

  • B8 - Crash loading layout.

Folk, Attached are the log files from trying to open an old layout I have saved in Beta 8. I first noticed this crash around beta2. I just updated to beta8 yesterday and the issue persists. The layout in question was created in the windows version in March of this year. Thanks, -jbl 013055.Archive.zip

  • What is the intended function of word lookup (by touching/holding a word in a book/bible?)

Folk, Unless I'm missing the intention of the word lookup function, it appears to be broken (current version of Logos.app for iphone). My expectation is that when I touch/hold on a word that, at minimum, I get a definition of the word from some dictionary. For example, in NLT, Jeremiah 51:25, the fourth word is "mountain". If I touch/hold mountain,

  • Two 1.3.0 bugs: Orientation Lock and page-width issue when opened in landscape mode

Folk, Bug#1) I tend to use Logos on the iPhone to read at night. This generally means I'm laying on my back holding the iphone in one hand in landscape mode. The effect is that the lock orientation overlay appears, fades and almost instantly reappears constantly. I haven't taken the time to look at the iPhone SDK to see what type of data one gets from

True... but was waiting until I had the money.... not meant to be! Is a case of want vs. need. :-) To add to the insult (no real insult...), it still shows up at http://www.logos.com/prepub as a "featured prepub" but goes to the $1k priced link. lol... -jbl
