  • Re: Should I take the Plunge to Platinum? A Gold User Asks

[quote user="Jerry Fourroux"] Funny you should say that! When I called my sales rep, I had a quote for the Portfolio with monthly payment of around $150 a month. I thought that may be doable, and the Pseudopigrapha from Charlesworth, Dead Sea Scrolls, and the JPS Commentary where almost worth it! What held me back where the Calvin 500 Collection, NT

Now, what about the upgrade from platinum to portfolio. There are two or three volumes in there that I know I want, but it is a lot of money.

  • Re: The undeniably controversial pastor Mark Driscoll weighs in on Logos

You might want to consider one additional effect. We have observed translations in which choices of word/phrase/concept were driven by considerations of current political orthodoxy (or worse). It is also possible to introduce these concepts in the teaching of the language. There is no guarantee that the Greek language taught today matches that used

  • Re: mytags vs. collections

There is a simple idea that shows the difference. Collections group items that have a similar property that is already tagged. Mytag is used to apply a category, which is only known to you, to an item. For instance, when I find a volume that I would like to investigate I give it the tag "interesting", when I read it I give it the tag "read". Thus, the

  • Re: Off Topic: Good and Bad Preaching

I have observed that the best preaching happens when the preacher gets out of the way of the Holy Spirit and lets HIS message flow. When this happens each member of the congregaton feels that the message was tailored just for him/her. Homework is important, ist is one of the ways we pray for the Spirit to provide a good message, but surrender is much

Is there any chance that PBB will someday support some other input format - ODF perhaps or even .doc??Since I don't use word PBB is worthless to me.

  • Re: Pdf to logos supported format to be read in the software

What you are describing is of no use or value to me. Even if PBB in such an implementation were free it would be far to expensive. Frankly the topic files feature from e-sword would be far more valuable than the PBB you are describing. And probably a lot easier to implement. How do you plan to deal with the incompatibilities that MS always puts in to

  • Re: Honest opinions......is Logos going to get better for Mac, is it worth holding out a bit longer?

My experience is that the MAC versions are as usable as I need fo rmy research. I haven't upgraded the windows/parallels versions in weeks. That said, does anyone know how to stop the MAC version from logging? It seems to me that logging is a slowdown that we can generally afford to live without at this point.

  • Re: 4.2a SR-2 - Macbook runs extremely hot and software performs at a snail's pace

Just adding a word to the wise. My 5 year old 17" MBP was indexing and getting hot. I put an extra fan (actually the vacuum cleaner) to keep it cool. When the hose slipped it overheated enough to fry the power supply board and the battery charge circuit. I don't know what else is gone since it won't power up. Older machines can be vulnerable since the

My iMAC waited nearly a minute to finally report that the search took 3.99 sec. It may have been snappy, but that minute took 60 seconds, not 4.

synvc works fine on the iMac (or at least it seems to, a collection made on the MBP was copied to the iMac). Here is the most recent log. 4617.Archive.zip

  • LOGOS 4.10.4.9457 collections do not sync -

I have a copy of LOGOS on my laptop that has not updated collections. Its collections, that I save on it, are sent to the iMac but those on the iMac do not come back. Does anyone know if there is a general procedure for this situation or do I need to submit logs and hope?

Just echoing a few points. I use a laptop (first edition core duo 2.13GHz 2GB Ram , 17" MBP for use in classes and offsite. Runs LOGOS fine both natively and in Parallels (Win XP). It is definitely slower than my iMac but a lot lighter. I keep both the win and mac versions up to date. I used to use the windows version most of the time but now run the

  • Re: Logos 4 indexer crash

I went experimenting on my own, deleting the files in the LIbraryCatalog directory (as well as LIbraryIndex and BibleIndex) allowed the system to startup and it seems to be working now. The latest log shows indexer exiting normally. Thanks for the help. The problem may well have been related to the fact that that there were 8 files in LibraryCatalog

  • Re: Ipad: did you go wifi or include 3g?

I went with the 3G model to get the GPS receiver, I use the 3G on trips if I need maps or guidance beyond what the GPS in the car provides. Otherwise it sits idle but available. If you never leave town you might not need the 3G capability. My church does not have WiFi but I use LOGOS on a laptop in offline mode when working there. The iPad app is pretty

Is there a way to get of list of the books that I have set to offline status? It would be nice to just have these books on the list when looking for a new reading project whilst I am on the road.

I don't want to beat this dead horse much more but I run LOGOS MAC 4.0 on my 2006 MBP (2.13 GHz core duo) , 2 G ram , and a (user added) 7200 rpm 500 GB disk drive. LOGOS MAC and LOGOS/parallels run fine. Not blindingly fast but with adequate speed for class and study work. It could be worth looking at your hard drive, MACs are notorious for slowing
