  • Re: MacBook Performance?

I have an older MBP 2.16 GHz core duo w/2 Gb Ram and performance is acceptable. It does take a while to index, however. Have used LOGOS on both Paralells (faster but less battery life) and now native MAC (it is a bit slower than the Windows version). The update to OSX 10.6 was pretty traumatic so get that done first. This model (A1151) cannot accept

[quote user="Alan Charles Gielczyk"] It seems to me the issue is being overlooked here. All the mentioned computers, net books etc. will run L4 to varying degrees but NONE will provide a better reading experience than a desktop. I have an iPad and for reading it can't be beat. There are several shortcomings but most should be addressed in the next update

I am getting a similar problem but it is definitly something Logos is doing. Here is the log 8311.Logos4_hang_10-09-10.log.zip Version 4.1 SR-3 (4.10.4.5986) - (why can't I just cut and paste this???) If I read the symptom correctly the program thinks is has been told to exit. But its only just begun. I also have a problem with the program hanging when

That's what the "update" I found in my last post did. (now 4.0a (4.10.4.6016). It hasn't fallen into the problem, though I won't load the previous layout. Too afraid to change much, I need it for Bible study tonight. In emergency I can still fall back to the Windows version.

I just start the program. I never get to where I could do anything. Unfortunately, I have forgotten what I was doing when it last worked. Note, If I open with a blank work area it comes up, syncs and goes on its way (I think). It just downloaded and is installing an upgrade - not sure what's up with that.

  • Gold hangs with and without internet connection

Basically, when I open LOGOS for MAC it hangs. One log seems to be hanging in sync the other had no internet connection so no sync. First run hung over an hour, the second stayed hung overnight. The copy on the iMAC (otherwise identical) opens normally, syncs with the Windows copies and is in all ways fine. It is probably some sort of resource corruption

Richard Kernel panics are almost always a result of hardware problems. If you bought apple care with your machine they provided a test program that will point out many possible hardware problems. It is also likely a good idea to run disk utility and check that your disk protections and file systems are OK. (Kernel panics are notorious for messing up

That was a great idea Smiling, LOGOS came up. Unfortunately LOGOS hung attempting to load my usual layout but I can fix that by recreating it. Thanks for the idea.

New info. I tried starting without an internet connection. Gave the reply work offline on the login screen. It still hangs. Here are the logs for that state. I guess that the resource it specifies is the culprit. All I need to know is how to delete/fix it to get my copy working. There might be some value in removing network access as a variable. There

Thanks for the advice Rosie. I installed the Gold master and got the following log files: 4073.LoggingLogos 4 Gold MAC_18092010.zip Short answer, it still hangs so I have some type of problem involving synchronizing. I fear that I will need the programmers to help me find out what it is. On a side note, the gold release works fine on my other machine

When attempting to start LOGOS 4.0 it hangs (this time I waited 1hr 15 min so it is really is hung. The problem seems to involve Sync so I need help to identify what to fix. • Beta 10: two Logos4Indexer copies running - what should I do?

As I try installing Logos 4 for MAC (Beta 10) on my MBP I find that there are two indexers running. Does anyone know if I should just kill one, kill both, leave well enough alone, or does it matter? I think that the second one started when I attempted to start LOGOS while the first was running.

I agree, I use the tags "interesting" for books that I want to get around to reading, read for books that I am reading now, and "read2009" etc for which ones I finished and when (helps with a church report). (I don't remove the old tag just add the new). The associated collections give me the lists fairly easily. Note that the library and collection

Yes I read entire books. One problem I used to have was headaches from screen flicker. Cheaper monitors and monitors at low refresh rates flicker (even if you cannot detect it) and that flicker leads to headaches. Make sure that your ambient light does not produce glare and use a good monitor (in my case the iMAC 27" is great). The MBP I use when off

First and foremost, you forgot to mention what level of student or minister you are. If you are a beginning lay speaker, you will want to read some of the guides to preparing sermons in LOGOS, if you are in seminary, you (should) have the training. I pray that you have a suitable mentor to give you the "Jesus with skin" that you will need. As everyone
