  • Re: Purchased November 5th, Indexer still crashing despite forum and technical support!

Mike This one looks like there are several things going on. Such problems do get hard to find. Logos$setup(2).exe is not a valid executable probably means it was corrupted during download. At a guess, one of the system libraries on your machine is either corrupted or out of date compared to those used by LOGOS. This situation often happens if you install

I don't really think that you would have missed this, but is there enough disk space? Have you recently run windows upgrade (particularly upgraded the .NET framework)? Are you running as administrator on the machine? I got L4 to run an a netbook with a N278 ATOM processor, VP SP3, and 2GB ram so you have enough otherwise.

  • Re: Copies of the same handout/clipping/etc

Rob You open the file tab and right click the handout you want to delete. A context menu comes up and one option (the bottom one on my copy) is "delete", click this option and the handout is toast. Not quite the Windows way of doing things but it works. Bob

  • Re: LOGOS 4 Total disaster

David I can see your point, the system does take a LOT of downloading. I would have hoped that LOGOS would put some/most/all of the data on CD to minimize the problem (and take some load off of my and their connections). That said, and apart from agreeing that 1GB of RAM is a bit skimpy and a single processor is a bit slow for LOGOS, I thought I would

  • Re: A7-Bug No view exists for Program Settings -

Yes, but part of what I am wondering is bout the crashes. I've had three plus a hang so far but they are not reproducible. Do we try reporting them, or report only on a particular subsystem, or what? the release notes don't tell us what else might have changed. Do they have a regression test list so we (with many different systems and add-ons) can checl

  • Re: A7-Bug No view exists for Program Settings -

Thanks for the reply. Is there somewhere that the programmers have told us what they would like to see exercised during testing? Most of my work requires interlinears, which do not seem to work yet. So my personal work won't take place in MAC side yet. It would be nice to have some idea of what the developers need to see used and perhaps which resources

  • A7-Bug No view exists for Program Settings -

1: " tools -> Program settings" the window has the error message "No view exists for this panel kind." How does one access program settings in LOGOS 4 MAC A7? The system is iMAC 27" i7 w/Snow Leopard.

  • Re: L4 and Precept (Inductive) Bible Studies.

Kaye Thanks for the outline of your study. Is there a precept book in LOGOS that I could work with? I am not sure what the title or type would be. I tried looking for inductive and precept but my library did not produce anything useful (for this topic anyway).

  • Re: Notes

I agree the note edit panel is somewhat inscrutable. I had a crash when editing a note, I assume that what happened is that it tried to get to the internet and failed (i had put the machine to sleep with a network connection and awakened it with no network). It would be nice to have a document that tells us what the panel actually does now as well as

  • Re: 'Unnecessary' questions..please READ the available info FIRST....

Then again, I would much rather that someone ask and get a quick answer or pointer than to struggle for hours or days hunting for a post the contents of which they cannot guess. Particularly when it might be the result of an undiscovered bug in the system. There are a lot of people who do not "do" search very well, particularly in strange systems with

  • Re: New notes placed in middle of notes file?

O.K. I understand a bit better now. When you are in a particular book the notes will be sorted by where they appear in the text. Once you begin to mix texts it appears to get more complicated. Once the index is mixed up (by getting results separated by those from another text (bible vs BDAG for example) or put out of order it seems to stay confused

  • Re: New notes placed in middle of notes file?

I am no sure I understand your problem. I usually keep two or three notes files open and just hit the correct tab for the one I want. I confirm the search crash - what a bummer. Has LOGOS acknowledged the crash?

  • Re: Logos 4 frustration

MIchael, you make several excellent points. LOGOS is powerful, and everything that is powerful needs time, patience and effort to learn. The other side of that coin is that sometimes you do not need (or want) the power and a simpler tool is appropriate (never try to cut your steak with a chain saw!!!!). I find LOGOS to be great, and I am only a raw

Again, I use a double NATed setup (router and nat inside of my MAC from windows via Parallel) and have no problems. My first inclination is to think that the link you are using is wrong. If you get to the https: site via a bookmark the bookmark could be wrong (perhaps with an invisible embedded character or two). Are we talking about two different computers

  • Re: Suggestion: Allowing husband and wives to share one Logos 4 license

In the end it will always come down to "What's worth more to you, your money or your soul?" The flexibility of your conscience will be directly related to your value system. If you value your soul you will be willing to part with mere money to protect it. If you value money you will sell your soul cheaply. As pastors it is our duty to lead by example

  • Re: I am confused

One caveat: some volumes are re-organized the for example the "soul of the preacher" edited by Rowell was 12 books in LOGOS3 and is only 1 in LOGOS4. ALso the interlinears are no longer separate books, the functionality is activated in pace in each available bible. But all the books are there (at least in my Gold edition). PLus many new books.

  • Re: Help please from the expert Logos users

As a somewhat new user of LOGOS i can put in a few thoughts. The questions you ask are pretty open ended without easy machine-determinable answers. There are some things that you need to use the brain for. The big strength of LOGOS is in the library where you can search what other people have thought and found. Thus, for the apostles question I might

[quote user="Donovan R. So the only way to do this would be to increase

  • Re: Sorting or ordering a collection

I guess that everybody knows, but I still don't know where it is mentioned. If you name your collection with the books that you want to use (and get those books into the collection) the T_C tool will use the name of the collection as a text string (or something like that). So to get NIV,GNT,SVT,NKJV you name a collection "NIV,GNT,SVT,NKJV" and put in

David I would like to have an idea of what level of computer jock and bible scholar you are. From my experience with LOGOS it is not for those who want to just read a verse or so once in an while and who have no sophistication with a computer. I have many friends to whom I would not recommend LOGOS for lack of computer savvy and/or time available. For
