• Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture

I am mulling over buying this resource as there is a pretty good offer on elsewhere but I would like to see how people value these volumes http://www.logos.com/product/8100/ancient-christian-commentary-on-scripture One question that I have is how different are they to Catena Aurea (apart from the obvious breadth differnce i.e. Gospels v whole bible

  • Re: Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture

I phoned Logos and they could not go below the list price, so I purchased the discs from a third party at a hefty discount. I will have to go through the palava of liscensing with Libronix before using them on Logos 4. The Ipad compatibility swung it for me and I do find it useful to see what the historic Churches view is rather than to be follow the

Just as long as you do not allow them to publish Banner's "sovereignty of God" by Pink. That would kill off any chance of Logos publishing this valuable work in it's intended and original format.
Why doesn't Logos publish Pink's "Sovereignty of God"? Does it have a different copyright

  • Re: The Desiderius Erasmus Collection

It is sad that this resource seems to be going nowhere (of course it is still early days) when the contents are so very interesting. You cannot understand Luther's monumental work "The Bondage of the Will" without seeing it in the context of Erasmus's influence and who can beat the quote: "if I have a little money I buy books and if any is left I buy

  • Re: If you were following the "Why is the apocrypha considered scripture" thread read this

There is really no problem in releasing your phone number, people do it all the time in phone books, it used to be the normal thing to do. We should all be careful and many of these suggestions are well made, but being too worried can verge on paranoia (which does not mean they are not out to get you).

  • Re: delayed ... again

Habitually missing deadlines is unprofessional, especially when these deadlines are self imposed. When you are investing thousands into a program with the expectation it will last a lifetime (in one format or another) it is disconcerting for the supplier to either not care about deadlines or to care but be unable to set and meet appropriate deadlines

  • Re: Evangelical Exegetical Commentary is Now Shipping

The increase in price is eye watering considering only one volume has been published, but at least it shows that Logos are confident that the quality of this first volume is so high that people will be willing to pay the increased price.

  • Re: Arminian perspective on apostasy

This is an area where the classic Arminian view is often challenged by non calvinists who hold to much of the Arminians position but differ on this important point, it is an open question whether these once saved always saved (OSAS) folk can be called Arminian, but then again they are closer to Arminius than the noble and saintly reformers. I would

  • Re: The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (57 vols.)…

This set looks excellent, and much to my surprise seesm to be tagged quite well the the Church Fathers and other sources. Does anyone have any adice as to whether I should tag this collection as critical or exegetical, I am thinking that it is more of a critical set.

I would suggest that should look at both words separately, many terms are just ad-hoc combinations of distinct concepts.
Brother Peter, I love your post and because i feel that is good to have a discussion between Catholics and Protestants about the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The first thing i will say is that the Catholic church does not teach a gospel of works. The Catholic Church teaches that you are justified through Grace alone

  • Re: Why Systematic Theology Matters
There really is no systematic theology of the bible. There are many theologies in the bible. Theological views emerge out of the mileau of the Ancient Near East and develop over time. There are theologies of various authors: a theology of Matthew or a theology of Paul or a theology of the Apocalypse. Any single systematic

I do not appreciate being forced to read and close the same window every time I open Logos, I have paid a fortune for this software and it is worrying that Logos feels able to insert repetitive adverts at the heart of the program experience, they could put it on the homepage but why put it there when it can be even more annoying. What next a pop up

  • Searching for a book review

I am thinking of buying Charlesworth's "Old Testament Pseudepigrapha" and thought why not look for reviews of the books within my bloated Logos resources. Rather pathetically I could not work out how to effectively seach for such a review in Logos and sadly had to go to Google where I found a review in volume 106 of the JBL which I then looked at in

What Logos need to do is to have a transparent and public development plan, detailing when legacy products will cease to be developed or indeed dropped altogether, the people can make their own decisions. Logos also needs to be more open about development plans, particularly when will Logos 4 have parity with the features much loved in Logo 3. It would
