It's shiny too. Aren't all Mac products supposed to be 'lickable'?

I agree. It makes my brand new blazing fast MBP even more insanely great! Good job devs. I can now fully recommend Logos for Mac to my friends.

Hey Ben. Yeah, there is a lot to this software. No doubt about it. It's so involved that my seminary requires us to take a week long class on how to use Logos. If you don't put the time into learning it, you will not get the most out of it. Have you viewed the video tutorials? You can find them here: http://www.logos.com/featuredemos Very good for just

  • Re: New Macbook Pro

Steve, to each his own I guess. I just have found that when I have a Mac I spend much less time managing my computer and more time actually working. I could have continued using my 2007 Macbook (not a pro model) if it weren't for Logos - which was still usable but just too slow for my liking. My wife is now using my old machine for web, email, and writing

Corbin, did you look at the link that Smiling provided? Here it is again: http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#Slow_Performance I found a couple of things there to be very helpful, especially turning of the internet option.

  • Re: New Macbook Pro

My experience with Logos is dramatically improved. I no longer am dealing with an almost constant beach-ball effect. The extra two inches of screen real-estate at a much higher resolution really improves the experience as well. At this point, I think I can wait quite a while before bumping up to a SSD. Even more speed would be great, but not at the

Well, I got mine. 15 inch with a 2.3 GHz i7, 4G RAM, and at 750 GB HDD running at 5400 RPM. Re-downloading my 7+ GB of resources right now. Can't wait to see how Logos runs now. If it's still slow, I will probably put some money aside to get a SSD when they drop a bit more in price.
Having been around the block with technology, I'd probably wait until something ships, watch for any fallout and then order. The Sandy Bridge chips had a problem out of the gate. Such is life on the bleeding edge.
True, but I will always have my Macbook that I'm currently using to fall back on if something goes

  • New Macbook Pro

So, rumors are flying about that a new Macbook Pro will be introduced on Thursday. Apple's online store now has a 3-5 business day shipping window for the Pros. I've been holding off on pulling the trigger to buy a new machine for months now, and my trigger finger is getting really itchy. Anybody else planning to get a new machine when they roll out

  • Search Question

Is there some reference for how to construct search queries? I want to do a search that returns all Psalms that are between 10 and 15 verses in length, but I don't know where to begin with a query for such a thing. I've looked all over google and come up with nothing. Thanks!

  • Re: Help! Microsoft Word for Mac does not show any of the Logos Hebrew or Greek fonts!

The easiest way to get around problems with Word is to stop using it. I've been using Mellel for over a year now and it has yet to do me wrong with Hebrew. They have a trial version. Here's the site: http://www.redlers.com/

  • Re: Logos 4.0b SR-4 (4.10.4.9457) - NIV2011???

This thread has me really confused. The NIV 2011 is a free upgrade? I don't have it. What I did notice was that my NIV now says NIV 1984, whereas before it was just NIV. I tried the "Update Now" command to no avail. Is my only option to rebuild the index?

Patrick, that is fantastic. Thank you so much for your testing data! Keep Smiling, I never considered those options. Thank you for the resources. Unbelievable how cheap a HDD upgrade is!

  • Re: What are you running?

Thanks Patrick. Yeah, I have used that benchmark, and I can see the numbers, but I don't know how they translate into experience. I can see that machine X is 2X's faster, but what does that mean? Does it mean that instead of Logos opening in 20 seconds it opens in 10? Also, HDD performance can be such a total bottleneck to performance that benchmarks

  • What are you running?

I'm using a late 2007 Macbook and considering moving up to a Macbook Pro. The rumor is that Apple will release a new Macbook Pro sometime in the first have of 2011. So, it could be as late as June. Not sure if I need to wait that long as the next 6 months hold a considerable amount of work for me and speeding up my computer and having a bigger screen

Same here. I updated to the new beta today, and that happened. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled the non-beta version. It now tries to sign in and then crashes.

  • Re: Mac logos 4 performance compared to Windows

Bot the machines you are considering are beasts! I have an early 2008 Macbook, and Logos 4 runs very well on it. It even ran well when I was running in Windows via Parallels. Either way, you shouldn't have any performance issues. So, get the Mac!
