• Bible Word Study Problem

In conjunction with a study of Exodus 6:3 this morning I attempted to run the Bible Word Study on the Hebrew word שַׁדַּי (ESV = 'Almighty'). It returned 41 results. I knew, however, that the term was used 48 times in the OT. Also, I noted that Ex. 6.3, the passage that I was focusing on (which has the word), was not included in the 'hit list'. Looking

  • Re: 3 problems with new Beta

I have had all the three of the problems identified in the original post. Also, it may be my imagination, but I seem to be getting a lot more of the old evil 'spinning beach ball' than I have had for quite some time now (with both Beta 1 and Beta 2). It seems to be especially common when scrolling text. Has anyone else noticed this? DLA

  • Re: Failed Updates

Like others who are using 4.3 Beta 1 (4.30.0.0130) I have encountered the persistent problem of the program attempting to download some update and reaching a certain point only to stop. I found this morning that this problem appears to prevent me from acquiring new resources that I have purchased as well as blocking updates to the program itself and
Now display fixed.
What do you mean it is fixed? I just looked at BHS SESB 2.0 in v. 1.7 on my iPhone and the Hebrew text is LEFT JUSTIFIED(!). The placement of the vowel points may be slightly better in this version, but left-justified Hebrew text is an intolerable problem (and one that Bible Reader does not have

  • Re: Honest opinions......is Logos going to get better for Mac, is it worth holding out a bit longer?

If I may add my 2¢ worth to this discussion, I have also been using Logos since the beginning of the beta stage, and while there are some things that still trouble me about the program (the non-functioning of the morphology-searching interface being chief among them), instability and slowness are not among them. I use a four-year old MacBook Pro with

  • Re: Beating the Dead Horse (Morph Searching)

Thanks, Tom. You guys are doing a great job overall. Please keep up the good work. By the way, I have some thoughts on how the overall user interface for morph searching could be significantly improved in a future version (L4.x or even L5). I don't want to post them to the group -- they are more design ideas than bug fixes -- but if you are interested

  • Beating the Dead Horse (Morph Searching)

I hate to be the person to bring this up again, but this morning I needed to do a search for other examples of a particular Hebrew morphological form for a class that I was teaching. I have not needed to do this for a few weeks, so I went to the morph search feature — I am using 4.2a Beta 4 (4.21.4.8941) — and discovered, much to my pain, that the drop

  • Re: Font Question

Ingo: You are welcome ... always happy to help out when I can. You are right to suggest that in some ways doing Greek and Hebrew with ASCII was simpler, as long as either one did not have to exchange documents with someone or if they were using exactly the same setup that you had. In my case, having to move documents back and forth between myself and

  • Re: Font Question

Ingo: Just to clarify, Logos uses Unicode for both internal processes and copy/paste functions. There is no support for exporting text to ASCII font formats. This is a problem for uses insofar as they have to get biblical texts into most Mac word processors or PowerPoint or Keynote. As a person who does this all day long (both for teaching using Keynote

  • Re: Crash when opening Ps. 148

Tom: Sorry that it has taken me a day or so to respond, but teaching classes got in the way. Yes. setting the font to Ezra SIL does solve the problem. However it creates another, admittedly minor, one. Ezra SIL has different metrics. The result is that in books with both Hebrew and English (as in a lexicon) there is a considerable disparity between

  • Re: Update Causes Parallels to Launch

For the record, I have the same problem/situation. I have noticed it for some time now (not a recent development), and I have have learned to ignore it. I will try to reconfigure settings and if I find a solution I will report it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we can only test this sporadically since we have to wait for updates to be available. dla

  • Crash when opening Ps. 148

Here is a curiosity. This morning I went to work on Ps. 148. I opened my standard layout for OT studies and went to navigate to Ps. 148. When the text (SESB) opened to the passage, the program crashed. I have tried it again about 20 times with different layouts and resources open each time. It seems to crash every time I have a Hebrew text resource

  • Hebrew Text Display Glitches

I became aware of this some time ago, but decided, since it is a small issue, not to write anything about it until the rush to get the Mac version out the door was passed. There remain a number of minor display issues related to presentation of Hebrew text. As an example I have inserted a screen shot below that shows four different Hebrew texts as displayed

  • Re: Copy/Paste Hebrew not accurate

David (et al.): I will try to flesh out this problem in as brief and non-technical a way as possible. Also, let me say at the outset that I am a seminary professor, and I have no financial connection to any of the companies mentioned below, except insofar as I am a customer of theirs. The two issues here are the use of Unicode vs. ASCII for character

I am having the same problem. In my case, the home page opens but is blank except for the items in the 'features bar' (lectionary, reading lists, preferred bible, etc.). In the main content area there is nothing. I also checked to make sure that the content items were 'turned on' in the customize tool. As you say, clicking on the home page icon (twice

  • Re: New to Mac Logos...Question Regarding Libronix

Darren: Libronix is the name used for the library format under earlier versions of Logos. Logos 4 will read and use the older format just fine, though in many cases the resources will be available in the updated file format used with Logos 4. For new purchases within L4, the resources will download for you automatically. If you have older things in

Luomat: You raise an interesting and, for me at least, important question. As a seminary professor teaching the Old Testament on the basis of the Hebrew text I am often asked by students and pastors what bible software I recommend. I started using software to study the bible back in the early 1980s, and through the years I have used almost everything

Thanks for the response. I see that someone else has reported the same thing now, so at least I am not alone at encountering this (cf. http://community.logos.com/forums/t/23457.aspx). I am not sure what detail I can add to what I said before. Basically one can reproduce the behavior by performing any morph search employing the '@' symbol to bring up

  • GM morphology searching problem

I have to admit that I am becoming increasingly concerned that the recently-posted GM still has significant problems. In addition to the new home screen re-sizing problem and the performance issues that others have noted (and which I also have experienced), I just ran into a major problem with morphology searching that I have not encountered before
