• Re: What's your benchmark?

HP Elitebook 8540w Runs Logos very well with a fairly large library (2500+) with multiple linked tabs open on a double monitor setup. This is a heavy laptop (mobile workstation really), but worth the weight compared with the functionality. I run the 32 bit operating system so the 4gb of ram doesn't show - don't know that I need to go 64bit after reading

I have enjoyed preaching through the Psalms over the years. I tend to break them up and do mini-series based on Psalm types (e.g. thanksgiving, trust, etc.) That gives continuity and allows for variety. You may decide rather than 150 chapters, you can group some together by type. It's your call, but that's what I've done.

Wilson: Denver Seminary is where I did my MDiv and now am working on my DMin. I didn't watch the video clip of the guy in the collar so can't really comment there. Denver Seminary has its roots in the Conservative Baptist tradition, though I don't know offhand whether they are affiliated formally. Dr. Hess, who helps to keep the annotated OT bibliographies

  • Re: Huge Libraries

I have been helped by the Denver Journal from Denver Seminary. They keep up-to-date annotated OT and NT bibliographies posted at http://www.denverseminary.edu/resources/the-denver-journal// I have tried to get the recommended resources in the most important areas. This has been a great tool to evaluate potential purchases. Randy
I hope all the best for Logos, but if you are serious about scholasticism, Learn to Use Biblical Greek and Hebrew with Logos Bible Software is not the final solution.
John, do you mean "scholasticism" as a methodology? Or do you mean "scholasticism" as in "scholarly?" Just asking, they are not the same thing.

  • Reading Plan bug? - stop reading command coming before the end of the reading

I have noticed that recently (since the newest release??) my reading plan asks me to stop reading just prior to the last line of my reading for the day. It's obviously something that I can figure out, but it seems rude to interrupt the author in the middle of his thought. Randy

  • Re: Value of NIDOTTE and NIDNTT?

I find both volumes very helpful. I still go the BDAG and HALOT first for translation work. However, as I look for ways to communicate the nuances in sermonic form, I find that the NIDOTTE and NICNTT offer more value. I too am on a tight budget, but don't regret purchasing them.

  • Re: How many books are in your library?

1865 with some yet to come in pre-pub. I don't have any PBBs in that count. I noted that the number really started to rise with things like Discipleship Journal, which alone added 150 to the total.

Sorry that you've experienced some hardships accessing tech support. My experience has been wonderful. I did have to wait but not too long (aren't speaker buttons on phones awesome?). I told my issue to the help desk and they refered me up the ladder to the second level support. Beckie was amazing at figuring out what needed to happen and fixed it fairly

Thanks for the reply, Robert. I just got off the phone with tech support. They are AWESOME! Becky took control of my system, ran some diagnostics, poked around, and after a couple of rabbit-trails, found the issue and fixed it. Pretty painless. I'm very pleased with the response to the issue. I still don't know all of how and why it happened, but I

  • library gone! "you own this resource, but for some reason it's not in your library"

I opened up L4 this morning and found that I could open up nothing from my library. I got the message "you own this resource, but for some reason its not in your library." I am using this on a new computer. I received it last week and set it up and loaded all the programs that I use. Everything was working great except that I wasn't yet set up on the

Dan: Have you tried the wiki suggestions? http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Running_Slowly I have virtually the same computer you have (mine has a slightly faster processor and 1/2GB more ram) and agree that it is just barely workable. Your header calls for 'best specs' so I'll share what I think should fall into that category. I ordered a new HP 8540w that

Thanks, got it. Actually it was a good experience until time to pay for the meal. They got my credit card confused with another table and in straightening things out they actually put four charges on my card. I'm trying to get it fixed... But not to hijack the thread, 'thanks'.
