  • Re: Excellent deal on one of the best commentary sets

Until this thread, I had never before heard of the Reformed Expository Commentary. I will have to check it out. I am a Southern Baptist who isn't deeply reformed, but I have benefited greatly from MacArthur, Sproul, Piper, Keller, etc. The Baker New Testament Commentary is excellent and I guess I have looked to that for an excellent Reformed perspective

  • Excellent deal on one of the best commentary sets

https://www.logos.com/product/119851/preaching-the-word-commentary-series These are the best pastoral/preaching level commentaries I have found. If you don't have them, it's a great price that doesn't often come around. Well worth the money. Certainly, the serious student/preacher will want to have critical and more in-depth commentary sets, but these

  • Re: best topic bible?

You have been given many helpful suggestions. I would add one more: The New Treasury of Scripture Knowledge https://www.logos.com/product/1214/the-new-treasury-of-scripture-knowledge Technically, it isn't a topical Bible, but it is a very good resource. I happened to stumble across it in my library a few months back and wanted to share this so that

So does this mean that I should go ahead and buy it now -meaning I will actually be charged $4.99 when it releases? Or wait until 12/28?

  • Re: Which Package to Start With

Michael, great to hear of your calling and beginning to train in seminary. I am writing to you as a 20+ year SBC pastor as well as an extensive Logos user since 2008. Here is my advice....First of all, totally ignore the denominational labels of the packages and the number of books you will be getting. Focus like a laser exclusively on which resources

I agree completel. Hated it the first time I used it, but once I got the hang of the value of the changes became very clear. Well done.

In my opinion, this is the best deal of the Black Friday sale.... https://www.logos.com/product/2223/systematic-theology Don't miss the opportunity to snap up this classic systematic for an incredible price. • Re: Bible Encyclopedias

You already have the two best in ISBE and Baker. I have the Zondervan but rarely ever open it. I use the ISBE and Baker, and the Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary is excellent for a quick, basic reference. Those are my three "go to" dictionaries. If you have those three, I see little use for buying the Zondervan. While these are certainly sufficient

  • Re: Does contacting customer service ever lead to a better price?

As stated earlier in this thread, the "overlapping material" is taken care of through dynamic pricing. As for contacting sales to get a better price, I have been a customer since 2008 and I have never gotten a better price on a base package from a salesperson beyond their promotional sales i.e. 15% off, 20% off. However, there have been a number of

  • Re: Must haves?

In looking at the sales, I would say that the prices for the Word Biblical Commentary and the Expositor's Bible Commentary are good, solid prices. Maybe not the best price you will ever get for those, but they are both resources that are worth those prices. Personally, I consider those both "must have" resources. Finally, rather than chasing sales,

  • Re: Bible Dictionaries/Encyclopedia - Very pleased with purchase but one question about Anchor Yale

[quote user="Edwin Bowden"] I think that one of the best additions anyone can make to their Logos library is the 8 volume IVP Bible Dictionary series. It is unique in that each volume focuses on one particular section of the Bible. I constantly find excellent detailed material, very well organized, that I do not find elsewhere. The set is 8800 pages

  • Re: Pillar NT or Tyndale (Whole Bible)

I have both Pillar and the Tyndale series on the whole Bible. They are both excellent. However, if I could only have one, I would choose Tyndale because it covers the entire Bible and offers great "bang for the buck." Pillar is one of the better NT commentary sets but is more indepth and doesn't yet over the entire NT.
