  • Verbum Suggestion: Vatican II Collection

Recently I purchased Flannery's Vatican II collection from Logos. It is a great resource. Unfortunately, other Verbum/Logos resources don't link to Flannery's collection. One solution would be to "fix" Flannery. But then I realized that there already is a better - and easier - solution. Redo Flannery. So, my suggestion is that Verbum put out an updated

  • 1983 Code of Canon Law Commentary

For students of Catholic canon law, it is great news that Logos will have the text and some commentaries on the 1917 Code of Canon Law. The 1983 Code reaffirms the importance on the 1917 Code, especially in understanding the meaning of the canons. Nevertheless, the current law in the Catholic Church is the 1983 Code. So, a commentary on this code would

Thanks! I didn't know about that feature. I just reported the typo.

  • Catholic Lectionary Mistake - Feb 17

In the Catholic Lectionary for February 17, the Gospel reading is given as Matthew 8:11-13. In reality, the correct reading is Mark 8:11-13. A little typo!

  • Re: l5 on Mac AND in Parallels window?

As in many things in cyberlife, your mileage may vary. I installed Fusion 6.0 on a one month free trial basis on my new MacBook Pro. It runs Windows 8.1 fine, but, as with Parallels, it drains the battery more quickly. However, as I have had zero problems with L5 on Mac so far, I haven't tried to install L5 on my virtual machine. In fact, I find I don

  • Re: Verbum Practicum and the new Verbum Plus libraries

Since I started this thread, let me throw in my two cents. I have no problem with Logos trying to sell things or add new features. That's one way that a company stays competitive and in business. Secondly, I like how the new Verbum Plus packages focus more on Catholic customers in the content they offer, and have less resource bloat. I have found Logos

From what the introductory video shows, the Topic Guide looks good. I'm glad to see someone else confirm that impression. I have left an email with David Day to see what my upgrade price will be. The additional resources are good as well.

Thanks! I was hoping for some such news. I've started viewing the Practicum videos and find them very well done. Definitely worth the price!

  • Verbum Practicum and the new Verbum Plus libraries

Now that the Practicum video series is finally out, we now have Verbum Plus libraries with some new features, like the Catholic Topical Index. Will Practicum add any videos to incorporate these added features into the training? I also wonder about how many features in Verbum Plus are actually new. The video announcing this shows changes in the Lectionary

  • Re: Does everyone have issues with L5 for Mac or just a select few

I just recently made "the move" from PC to Mac. I wanted a device powerful enough to run L5, but portable enough to sit easily on my lap or take here and there. Well, thanks to the generosity of a number of people, hello MacBook Pro! I have a 13in late 2013 model, with 8 gb of RAM and a 256 gb hard drive. No issues at all in running L5. The only thing

  • Re: Anyone running the Logos app on the iPad air?

The app runs beautifully on my iPad 4, so it should be at least as good, if not better, on iPad Air.

  • Re: Dell Venue 8 Pro

First if all, these Dell tablets will use the new Bay Trail Atom processors. I have an Asus VivoTab Smart, and this should easily outperform it while maintaining good battery life. My concern is with the 8 inch screen. There will soon be a Dell Venue Pro 11, available with either the Bay Trail Atom or the Haswell i3 or i5 processor, more RAM, and more

  • Biblical Hebrew/Greek study recommendations

If someone were learning Biblical Hebrew or Greek for the first time, or wanted to brush up on them, what Logos resource(s) would you recommend? I'm using L5, if that helps. Thanks!

  • Re: Which tablet is best?

It all depends on what you need and want. I have no toppling issues, because I bought a cheap sturdy stand. I'm using the tablet on my lap to write this. As for speed, L5 takes 24 seconds to boot up. A Scripture passage search takes 14 seconds. Going into reading mode takes 10. How much speed do I really need? Two sips of coffee and I'm ready for the

  • Re: Which tablet is best?

I'll offer the Asus VivoTab Smart for your consideration. It runs full Windows 8, so you can install Logos 5. It is half the price of the Surface Pro, and comes with Office Home and Student. You can install L5 on a microsd card, as long as you format it as NTFS. It's lighter than the Surface, and has longer battery life. On the con side, the Asus is

  • Re: Run Logos5 from SDcard on Win 8 Tablet

David, Thanks for this very useful tip. I didn't know that it was possible to install Logos 5 on the microSD card. I've had a VivoTab Smart for some time, but I had a glitch and needed to reset it. Now I have reinstalled Logos on my microSD card. That meant redownloading my resources, of course. Logos is indexing now. One advantage to installing on

  • Re: NOOK Simple Touch on sale

I have a Nook Simple Touch. I rooted it several months ago, and found an older version of the Logos app that runs on it. After a couple of weeks, I gave up on it. Too many of my resources have features that require a newer version of Android. What I would love is an e-ink reader that could also run text-centered apps like Logos.

  • Re: Bug (5.1): "Reading view" too small in Windows 8

Update: this bug is extremely limited and weird! I encountered it when I did a search from the home page of Galatians 6:14-18. But, since then, I have tried several other searches, including some in Galatians, and the reading view comes up as fullscreen. Then, when I typed in the Galatians 6 passage again, the reading view one again yields a page that
