  • Re: Time for Wednesday Night Bible Study...

[quote user="George Somsel"] [quote user="Esther Jones"] I'm interested in any thoughts about how people here on this forum would use their L4 in this scenario. What keystrokes would you use? What layout? Would you use note-taking software or the notes feature in L4? Why or why not? Any other software you might use side-by-side with L4 or One Note to

Wow...was it something I said? This thread was hopping for a bit, and as soon as I said I only had the Bible Study library it died... Esther

My screen is small, too, so your layout is quite applicable. I agree that deep research is not possible during a bible study, and I wouldn't want anyone to have to "wait" on me to do anything! It's mainly for my own benefit that I want to do this--it is a specific application of L4 that is unusual, and I thought therefore a good subject for a thread

  • Re: Time for Wednesday Night Bible Study...

I have been using my cellphone for bible access for several years now. At first I think it caused some consternation among the congregation, and in fact I felt uncomfortable at the beginning having my phone out during service. But now it is quite an accepted practice, and I even have relatives in other churches who have had the experience of having

  • Time for Wednesday Night Bible Study...

Our baby church has just begun midweek services. I am aware that the majority of L4 users are pastors, preachers, teachers and lay leaders: which means most of the time you are at the front, and if you have your computer and L4 with you, you are using it to teach. But what if not? I am a lay person, and have the opportunity to have my L4 with me during

  • Re: How to AVOID backing up?

Thanks, Rosie: That was the help I needed. I already knew how the backup wanted me to exclude it, but I didn't know what to exclude. I'll be changing my settings for backup accordingly! Esther

  • How to AVOID backing up?

So, I've had this laptop less than two months, and it crashed. I was comforted knowing that I wouldn't lose anything important related to my logos. The backup program I was using to keep the rest of my stuff turned out to have been a bad investment...it didn't work, and I lost everything else. Now I am in the process of redesigning my back up process

  • Re: Christmas is coming...

Tom...thanks for the insight. I've spoken with my pastor, and from the information I gathered, I'm willing to take all those risks. You would throw a gift from a parishioner that cost $50 in the trash? Yowza. Seems to me like you might at least pass it on to someone who could use it. Esther

  • Christmas is coming...

When I first bought bible software, I got a copy of eBible on sale. Subsequently I upgraded to Libronix 3, and then to L4. I want to find a way to introduce my pastor to L4, and wondered if there would be some reasonably priced (i.e. $50 or less) way to give him a taste of L4? Esther

Haha, Kevin...it would be easier to go to the file menu. But thanks for the answer! Esther

  • Link Notes to Prayer List Items?

I actually have a note file for several people that I pray for regularly. These are quite large in some cases, so I was wondering if I could somehow place a link to a person's notefile into the request box in the prayer list utility? This would allow me to be reminded to pray for them, but would make it easy to open up their notefile to be able to pray

Thanks Kaye...I don't understand tagging very well. What would you use for a tag? The date? Or something else? gratefully; Esther

  • Prayer list: Partial answers?

When you have been praying for an item and God provides what is obviously part of an answer, or something which may turn into the answer but that is not clear yet... 1) Do you record this? 2) How do you record it? I want to put this in the answers column, but don't want the prayer to disappear from the schedule. I'm hoping others have found a way to

  • Re: Logos Signed in and Open on Two Computers?

Rosie: yes, thanks...the percentage IS going up...just slowly. I had it downloading all night, stopped it when it said 63% of 5+g download, restarted it a few hours later and it reported downloading a 1.45g download, and it is now at 73% of that. The reason I had the question is that I did go ahead and try to open Logos on the laptop, and it cooperated

  • Logos Signed in and Open on Two Computers?

Can I have Logos 4 signed in and open on two computers at once? I'm asking because my new laptop arrived yesterday, and I've been downloading Logos 4 all night and now into the afternoon (though I had to cancel the download for a bit to do some other maintenance). BUT...I need to continue my study, so I also have Logos up and running on my desktop.

  • Re: Overwhelmed

It doesn't sound dumb at all, and I'm glad you posted your request. I'll bet you'll get a lot of help! I think that first off you should quit beating yourself up because studying on the computer is different than studying from books. Lots of studies are showing that people read and assimilate information differently from the computer than they do from

I would also appreciate the pane specific colors...it would help keep track of what I am studying. Liked the idea, also, of the active pane being indicated somehow...glow, bright, something. Esther

Considering an iPad instead of a Kindle, but very much a novice concerning Apple products... Can I use LogMeIn to connect through my iPad to my PC??? I'm sorry if this question disturbs the ether surrounding Apple/PC polarities , but I have a PC at home and no intention of changing that, but need the portability and functionality of the iPad away from

  • Re: SUGGESTION: Entire passage and scroll bar in pop-ups

Here's another possible solution to the problem: When hovering the mouse over the link that says "more"...MORE actually appears. As it stands now, the pop-up begins at the beginning of the link, which is the SAME information as what is printed before you. Sometimes it is a few words or lines longer, often it is less. I think most of my frustration

  • SUGGESTION: Entire passage and scroll bar in pop-ups

I love my Logos 4, but find it very frustrating that pop-ups do not contain the entire passage referenced. When hovering over a link, it is wonderful that a pop-up appears, and also that it stays as long as I hover. But often the pop-up contains all but a few words or lines of the passage. In order to read to the end, I am forced to click on the link
